Dogs have been mooching off humans for 40, 000 years. They are evolved for it. Table food is fine, as long as you avoid certain foods dangerous for dogs (grapes, onions, garlic), and keep the fats down.

I have been cooking real food for my dogs for three years and they are so healthy and they never smell or have bad breath....most pet food is like eating garbage food is the only way to health and healing...cancers are on the rise in pets from all the junk food.... people really need to wAke up....

My moms dog eats quality dog food he has health problems. My dad feeds his dog what he eats she has never been sick!

If you feed your dog human food at a young age they’re going to start bugging you for it and might even move into not eating their own dog food until you feed them what they were fed growing up (btw I know this because I’ve seen it happen) Edit: I forgot to say that they’ll most likely starve themselves until they’re forced to eat their dog food, so don’t get your dog used to human food.

For thousands of years they ate what humans ate, table scrap food, I'm sure they'd be fine eating that too, I had a doberman who ate scrap food, he lived to be a little over 15 years!! We throw a lot of food away, so better to feed it to the dog than let it go to waste. But of course watch it a little never give them cooked bones or Chocolate.

I disagree. Vets want us to buy their food. They don’t want us giving them good meat and organic brown rice we have at home or raw meaty bones because the vets won’t make a profit. I cook the rice, place it on the plate. I clean the saucepan, add fresh water to cook the chicken fillet (no cooked bones) in and add it to the rice with all the juice it was cooked in. My dog adores good food like that. He was raised on raw meaty chicken bones. He’s nearly eight and very healthy.

I feed my 9 pound, 13 year old chihuahua / poodle cat food because she is, and always has been a very picky dog, also, she refuses to eat dry dog on a regular basis. My question is, since she has advanced congestive heart failure, will this diet harm her. Oh, and she's never been over weight.

Pay attention to the pet food recalls as well some of those with the 25 year preservative etc can serious harm your pet of kill them outright. Chocolate, onions, grapes, garlic chicken bones can kill certain breeds of dogs.

My Father was a hunter, so growing up I remember him feeding our Dogs the table scraps we had. Processed foods were not allowed to go in their bowls. Everything else was fair game for the most part. He also never fed them when we eat. We would scrape leftover fat, gristle, meat, vegetables and grease into the bowl. The dogs needed the extra calories for the work they had to do. It never caused problems.
I find it ridiculous, that any medical professional would say this is worse than low grade highly processed dog foods that are mostly filler is absurd. How do you think dogs evolved with us? Be smart about it, just don't feed them highly processed human food. If it's bad for us it's probably bad for them. No need to overthink this.

I’ve only feed my dog steak. Burger hotdogs ham cheese turkey eggs and she is probably the most jacked Boston terrier out there.

When my mum feeds her dog human cookies - 2 at a time. The dog is a bugle cross with a sausage dog. 2 cookies is about right for me as a snack so for a small dog who that is a huge amount on top of her regular dog food. The poor little dog has been on and off diets because my mum won’t stop giving her big amounts of high fat human food (with not much nutrition). It’s so sad.

All my life, all my dogs were fed what we eat. There was no problem at all. Problem is the pet food industry is responsible for all this. Just like the Canola and Corn lobbies which discredited butter and coconut oils.

I feed my dogs human food along with SOME dog food that’s organic, no preservatives, etc. if you see what’s in most dog foods there are preservatives etc. organic chicken, salmon, carrots, peas, rice, sweet potatoes, eggs, all in moderation. Ofc giving probiotics and vitamins as well. Can someone tell me what’s wrong with this? I’m actually curious lol

What do you think they eat in the Congo or bush with native ppl, certainly not industrialized dry crap .
Also, what do you think your grand parents fed them dogs, yup, whatever they had left over 💋
