To find the electron configuration for an ion, first identify the configuration for the neutral atom. Then, add or remove electrons depending on the ion's charge. For example, to find the configuration for the lithium ion (Li⁺), start with neutral lithium (1s²2s¹). Then, since the lithium ion has one less electron, remove an electron from the 2s subshell to get 1s².

Hmm... I think the electron configuration for an ion should be changed by adding a subtracting/adding sign depending whether the atom gains or looses an electron.... People can confuse the configuration to another element/atom. For example, F^-1, I believe for configuration, should be:
1s² 2s² 2p⁵^+1

SINCE it gains an electron; if an atom looses one, you subtract.
(Asume +1 is an exponent)

Just my opinion. :)

Not a ion but... For higher atomic number elements such as 100 and above atoms, can you please explain their electronic configuration!

can you please link the relevant KA page to the videos? I like to collect badges. Is this in chemistry or physics?
