Why Palpatine Was JEALOUS of Dooku - Star Wars Explained

Palpatine was the mighty Sith Lord pulling all the strings of the Clone Wars behind the scenes, cloaked in the dark side...but even with all of his power, he found himself somewhat jealous of Darth Tyrannus, Count Dooku himself. Why was this? Jealous of Qui-Gon Jinn? Being a Jedi? Being close to Yoda? His powers? What was it really?

Dooku held great influence in the Galaxy, wealthy without rival, one of the greatest swordsmen and Force users in the galaxy. The Sith Grand Plan owes an incalculable amount to Tyranus. He funded the GAR, found Jango Fett for the Clone Army while also eliminating the Bando Gora as a threat in the same plan, he unified and built the CIS with his charisma, reputation and diplomatic skills turning the disparate fragments into a functional threat all without the Jedi realizing it. He recruited and trained Ventress, Grievous, Durge and the Dark Adepts, he caused a schism in the Jedi Order and held back from killing Anakin several times throughout the war while helping Palpatine increase his own political power. Palpatine literally could not have pulled off his plan without Dooku. With all of that and Dooku nearing the end of knowledge he could learn as a Sith apprentice, it was time to replace him with someone younger and easier to manipulate. Dooku would never have rivaled Palpatine in power, but he could have in influence and that was a threat.

I think if Dooku turned to the dark while he was in his prime, he would have been about as powerful as Sidious, or something like that.

Dooku is and has always been my favorite character in the Star Wars series. I believe Palpatine had Dooku intentionally lose his duel to Anakin in order to coerce or manipulate Anakin in turning to the Dark side unbeknownst that Palpatine would use that opportunity to have him killed. This further supports the theory that Palpatine was threatened by what Dooku could become.
