Hi! My name is Abhinav and I am an Indian living in the UK. I first met Romani people in Ukraine during a documentary production trip in 2018. When I got to know that this people group actually originated from India I started to do research about them. When they first saw me they thought I was a Roma too but soon realised that I had come from India. Now whenever I travel to Eastern Europe I try and spend time with Roma Gypsy.

Last spring I got the opportunity to travel to Romania and I wondered if I could find Roma people there. This video is about my experience in a Gypsy village. Please check it out to find more about them.

I’m Romani and live in America. My tribe is Kalderash from Romania. I was raised not to tell Americans who I was and to not interact with others because they hated us. It’s so nice to see people accepting Roma into their lives. I would love to see a video of our people here in America.

I’m Native American and married to an Indian. As a lover of WWII history, I discovered that these people are Indian descendants and told my husband who never knew this. God bless you all! ❤❤❤❤

I had no idea Roma people were originally from India. Once in a long while I would come across some information about them and I would think that these people have some habits of Indians but I never really knew. Thanks to Abhinav now I know. I'm from Guyana and there's a large Indian diaspora here. Thanks again, Abhi.

I had no idea about this up until last year. Abhijit Chawda has actually played a very significant part in talking about these not so common facts. Thanks to you sir for making such a beautiful video.

They are our people.❤️🇮🇳🙏🏻

This is the best Documentary on YouTube honestly man!

I too grew up with very humble friends from India as growing up in London from 10 years old I felt more welcomed by my Asian friends more than White Europeans :/ and I am proud to be from Roma community from Czech Republic!

GOD bless you for showing the actual good people you clearly saw even they were not richest but, they still offered first and last like we are taught from young age!

WE NEED MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS ON YOUTUBE!

My Grandfather would love this Documentary if he would still be alive 😕😞

videos like this make me inspired to make my own documentary on where I was born Karvina
(Czech Republic)..

Thank you Abhinav my father is Roma/Spanish and their family is very much into the Flamenco scene. You should check out the similarities in vocals Andalusian flamenco has to Indian music. Just something fun for you to check out. I was born and raised in US by my mother's family so unfortunately some of the treatment of women is still lacking. However at least my brother and I have broken the cycle. I'm 4.1% Pakistani/northern Indian according to 23 & me and 11.9 Western Asian/North African so your info about Romani, Turk slaves was very interesting and I hope someday India will allow us back to have a normal life and culture. I've seen and lived first hand the devastation the separation has done to the community.

Im from Mauritius and our foreparents came from India bihar/UP in the late 1800's from the East India company(british raj) to work as indentured labourers in the sugarcane fields and remained here.
We are the 6-7th generation & we do speak broken bhojpuri and hindi aswell.
Life has not been fair to us in the pass but atleast we have control in the future.
