When Adding 7/16 Inches to Jack Rafters Works and When it Doesn't

Why do you add 7/16 of an inch to jack rafters on a Construction Master Pro? And is this always a good shortcut?

➡️ Because the CM Pro gives you the centerline length, adding 7/16” to this amount gives you the long point lengths.

➡️ Yes and No: Adding 7/16” is a good estimate for shallow pitched regular hips and valleys using 2x stock. But as the roof gets steeper, this estimate gets less and less accurate.
