It would have been a lot better story if the Falcon was stolen from Han by his son. That would be more relateable as I'm sure many upset sons have stolen their father's precious car (which could be seen as their father's one true love) when they have run away and then abandoned it in a final act of defiance against their father. Maybe Han's son left it on Tatooine when he went there to find out more about his grandfather. But then it got stolen from there, yadda yadda yadda it ends up on Jakku. And Rey was in the kitchen the whole time having a snack, fell asleep, ended up on Jakku.

Han would never, EVER allow the Falcon to be taken from him, and he certainly would never let 15 years go by before finding it again. That was just one of many extremely out-of-character things that happened in the new movie that make it absolutely impossible for me to accept this new canon.

New data: according the novel bloodline, Ben was still a Jedi 6 years prior to Ep 7. In the story it mention that Han doesn't have the Falcon anymore. So the losing it about the 15 ABE (After the Battle of Endor) makes sense.
