How to buy your first guitar:
1. Walk in.
2. Say "That one looks purdy", while picking up a $5, 000 Gibson Les Paul.
3. Attempt to play Smoke on the Water in the wrong key.
4. Pay for it in cash.
5. Look at their faces.
6. Don't tell them that you've actually been playing for ten years, and you had saved up for this guitar for years after playing many cheaper guitars and getting good.

The man who taught me how to play guitar and whom I watched tons of his videos when I was a kid only lived 20 minutes away from me? Crazy

My first guitar (used) cost $14.00 & my older brother sold it for booze. Still hurts 50 years later. Wish I still had it. Thanks guys for another great video.

I'm a professional cheap guitar player, it's all i will play. Anything above 900$ is not for my style. If I sold all my cheap guitars I could buy a couple American fenders, but I prefer my guitar to match it's owner - a cheap asshole.

My first guitar was a 1976 Tele and I hated it because it bruised my bony teenage ribs.
I sold it to my best friend and got a SG. I do still have visiting rights to my Tele and it still bruises my bony old man ribs. lol.

Phillip: Brazil has a massive population of people of Japanese heritage, hence Japanese brand names for Brazilian products. They actually have a national holiday recognizing the mass immigration from Japan to Brazil, and those of Japanese heritage have automatic Japanese citizenship—which is why there is also a massive Brazilian population in Japan.

Both you guys taught me everything I needed to know to walk in a store one day, determined to go home with a guitar, and pick the one that I would be happy with at least as I learn the basics. I went to two thrift shops and a music store that day, back and forth between the three, and ended up with a Japanese stratocaster type ‘Selder’ that has a couple of deep scratches in it but seems otherwise to have been untouched telling by the even layer of stubborn grime and antique looking strings. I kid you not, it was $30.

It needed a lot of clean up, but it’s been a good guitar that I’ve been able to not only learn how to play, but since it’s so cheap I’m not worried about messing something up as I learn how to maintain, upgrade, and repair it. By the time I get my next guitar, I’ll know what I’m doing.

Marty: picks up beginner guitar and “shreds” to try it out.
Beginner: picks up Beginner guitar and makes no recognizable tune to “try it out”.

Epic concept for the video along with flawless execution. This video is funny in the way it makes fun of other TV shows yet informative. Keep up the great work, Marty. I also enjoy watching Phil in your videos. He is a cool dude. Cheers, guys!!
