I was left some money in my mums will so decided to enjoy a bit of it. I went to the Anderson guitar gallery last Monday and had a fantastic few hours with Paul guiding me through lots of different and wonderful guitars. A fantastic experience and one that I was a little apprehensive about! I have been playing for a long time but haven't bought a new guitar for a very long time and certainly nothing expensive! Make sure it has a low-action. Every guitar manufacturer claims their guitar has this but it's seldom true. For a beginner guitarist it is very important. A high action makes finger shifting and holding notes hard, with big chances to stuff up.

I would like a guitar that doesn't sound very loud, not to play in concerts or in front of everyone, just for myself, I live in an apartment by myself, cannot make much noise, I want to get home, play some melodies on it, not rhythmic sounds, just letting my feelings flow however I feel, making some beautiful sounds from it, relax while I play my guitar in my living room, on my bed, like an intimate companion to pour my heart into it.

My advice would be to go to a pawn shop and buy the cheapest guitar you can find in a decent condition. Then if you find you keep playing and want a better guitar, you're going to be in a much better position to decide on the long-term purchase.

Wonderful, informative video. One thing I would add for the first time buyers, if you do go for an acoustic/electric with a pickup: many times simply having a chord plugged in to the guitar will activate the pre-amp and draw power from the battery. Don’t ask me how I know or how many batteries I’ve been through. Just get in the habit of unplugging after playing.
Couldn’t agree more with comfort while playing being priority number one.

Would love to see a video where you compare how acoustics react to posture!
Slugged over sitting down and having a lot of your body making contact with the guitar vs standing up straight vs standing up with a strap.
How much resonance is affected by the body?

Paid $729 for a jumbo Gretche rancher falcon acoustic/electric guitar with Fishman Electronics back in 2020 and it sounds and plays just as well as any Martin acoustic
