I have been making magic pillowcases for my family, I use French seams to make the inside just as nice and finished as the outside.

I'm making a linen jacket with silk accents (pockets, button tabs, etc.); a copy of one I've worn for 10+ years. The original has french seams at shoulder and side seams. perfect for linen!!

I’m going to attempt some summer tops, skirts, and dresses. I think this would give them a proper finish. The fabric is rayon or a cotton/linen blend.

I've been looking for a seam that will allow me to increase the size of my Flat Sheet without a noticeable seam showing. With one change I will be sewing down the seam as in your Flat Felled Seam tutorial. Thanks

I'm using a French seam on an heirloom baptism gown that I am making. I will use it joining the front and back as well as the lining side seams. I just think it is a nicer look than serging those seams.

Why do you press open the seam if you're going to fold it back onto itself when it is encased?

I am brand new to sewing and I know I am gonna sound like an idiot but i have to ask.
The stitch width setting on the sewing machine moves the needle to measure desired width of seam from needle to edge of pressure foot?

How does this fare for side seams on a fitted blouse if it curves for the waistline?

What would be your first and second measurements if the pattern called for a 1/2 inch seam allowance?
