"I could eat a meal in this" is the ultimate jeans goals! I'm gonna fish out those jeans from the bottom of my fix it-box and make them work!

I’m OBSESSED with Lydia. Do I have jeans that are too loose? No. But did I watch the video 5 times. Absolutely.

This is a great video! I actually just did this alteration last week before I watched this. I came across this video last night and thought you did a great job explaining this process. I wanted to share my own personal tips too if you don't mind. You are right about opening up the seam past the belt loops more because it's easier to pin that in place and then sew under the belt loops in place. But if you have a very small butt like I do, and you have 3 inches to take in, you will get a bubble under the center seam of pants, which is not very nice. So in order to avoid that, you can go all the way to the front of pants and open up past the belt loops there and just make the elastic longer and the gathering will be distributed more evenly so you don't have such a bump under the center seam, if you have no butt like me. If you have a high waist pant style, then this won't really happen, but my jeans are more mid rise and it didn't look as nice as yours did. I hope this helps someone reading this! xoxo

A very practical way to fix your jeans to fit well! Thank you for taking the time to share this.

This is how I do it. It's so easy and makes such a difference. Only, I always rip the upper part of the waistband, never the bottom, except when it's not possible, since it's easier to sew it back.

Just tried this with $10 thrifted jeans and they are so comfy now!!! Thrilled!!!

Literally said "genius" out loud as you explained what you were doing with the elastic. So good. I think I would even be willing to hand stitch the hem back on because it's such a tiny stretch, and then you can make sure you actually catch that inner waistband. SO GOOD!

Totally love the fact that you recorded your “ mistakes “ or how you would have done it differently!! Kudos to you!! Great job!!

By the way, I saw this an hour after you posted it yesterday and modded my jeans that afternoon LOL 😂 Thanks for the straightforward tutorial!

Altering jeans is generally just a pain. I have a pair of jeans that fit perfect everywhere except the waist. I had this idea in mind, but I wasn't sure exactly how to do it. After this video I know exactly how I'm going to do it.❤

I’ve been wanting to take in some pants (not jeans) that are too big, but have been struggling to figure out how to do it at my skill level and not make it look weird. This method looks perfect!!

This method is waaaay better than other methods I’ve seen! I’m definitely trying this! I have 2 pair of brand new high waist jeans that are just slightly too big in the waist and I’ve been watching video after video of ways to fix it without actually cutting my pants. Can’t wait to do this!

This is awesome! The other tutorials had my pulling the elastic through out the entire waistband and that was hard to do! This is so much easier with he same results! Thank you!

A jean lifesaver! ❤ Did this to 3 of my jeans today and it was so easy and straightforward to follow!

Thanks so much for the clear explanation! I was able to take in a good 6 cm at the waist of my jeans, and it's practically invisible and super comfy--I looked up a bunch of methods, and this worked really well for a pair of high-waisted loose-leg jeans with zero stretch which fit really well at the hips and just needed some taking in at the waist. (I went from the front belt loops, as suggested in the comments, and also sewed under the side belt loops to secure the elastic there once the scrunch was distributed the way I liked it!)
