This is a very good way to take in the waist of a pair of jeans, provided you don't let go of the elastic and have to fish it back out which is what happened to me. But I'm happy with the outcome!!😅

For light material jeans this is a great idea, for stuff jeans material, it is not suitable unless the elastic is strong 😊
