You can hear this song in a Middle Eastern desert or in Paris, and you'd still feel like you're in Carolina right now. A masterpiece.

Met James Taylor on a fishing boat in the Keys around 20 years ago. We both had rain checks cuz of bad weather and when it was clear we had been double booked, he just said it was fine if I wanted to come along and we fished all day. Kinda quiet and marked by a hard life for sure. But we caught a lotta fish and parted ways. A few years later I found my Karolina and she is my wife and companion since 20 years. Ahhh for the paths we walk…

To me, Carolina is a metaphor for heaven, and he’s saying when he passes away he’ll be home. Don’t be sad for he’s back in Carolina. “Say nice things about me when I’m gone.”

I was missing my home recently in Raleigh NC and just happened on a guy playing NC on my mind in an airport. He was there playing for tips. He got a $100 tip from a tear filled me!

“Karen she’s a silver sun, you’d best walk her way and watch it shining. Watch her watch the morning come.” Beautiful and sublime.

A twenty-year-old singing in the unmistakable voice of an old man. Truly amazing.

This song is the auditory equivalent of a hug.

I am retired now and living in the Philippines. I was born and raised near Pinehurst, NC. Looking forward to spending a couple weeks back home next year. I still have to listen to this song occasionally. 😊

If you've driven down an NC road in the summer, with the windows down and this song playing, It hits just a little different

I've seen him 3 times in concert. I have never experienced another performer who could directly connect with me as he did. In a 13 k seat basketball coliseum, I felt like we were on the porch and he was singing directly to me. On of the best musical experiences I've ever had.

I think the wind, the moon & the stars all guide us to where our heart is content. James Taylor’s songs are so hopeful.

You can substitute any city, town, state, country for Carolina, a song missing home and reminiscing about good times and memories.

this is my favourite version of his song. His voice conveys the brokeness. the newer version doesn't seem to convey this as this one does

I was named after this man, maybe coincidentally. His melancholy and undying loveliness speaks deeply to my soul. God bless James Taylor. This song feels like it's for me. I hope that anyone else gets to feel that.
