One of the reasons I think my symptoms got worse now in my late 20's, is seeing my child go through the same thing, and having it trigger those memories in myself. Another is that once I felt that self acceptance, my Mask started coming off more and more.

I initially thought I might have autism when I first discovered this channel and then when I discovered HowtoADHD I realized that's what I had and have finally gotten diagnosed. But I wouldn't have realized that if not for this channel 1st.

Having a diagnosis of bpd and bipolar when you don't have it is soo detrimental. Yearsz even decades are lost to a misdiagnosis due to the medications, how others treat you etc. I hope the future is kinder and less dismissive to females on the spectrum 💕

I have both autism and bipolar disorder, so it's interesting to see so many people talking about how their autism was misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder. I know first hand that it is very possible to have both.

DSM5 is like the universe. It's keeps on changing it's never ending and don't knw how it's started. It's reading about the begginning of the universe it makes your head hurt.

I love this idea of using a favorite movie in the background to help focus, it reminds me of something I do. I watch old reruns of favorite shows that give me nostalgia when I'm trying to fall asleep or have difficulty; it really helps me with the anxiety and stress of trying to get to sleep, or helps interrupt nightmares and night terrors. I feel like because it's shows I've watched 100s of times, I won't get invested in it enough for it to keep me awake, but it's enough to disrupt my inner monologue or bad thoughts and provides me a sense of comfort.

This is amazing. Thank you. I struggle with much of the same things. I have been diagnosed with ADHD and Depression. The ADHD medication seems to highlight the sensory issues I struggle with. I've found many references linking ADHD and Autism and highlighting that ADHD meds can worsen ASD symptoms. I am also equally obsessed with many of the special interests you both mentioned. Others say it is impossible for me to relax. I always have to be learning something. These reflections are helpful!

That whole eating a show or a movie going when you do anything that's me. And I was in school I cannot focus on my homework if I didn't have the TV on. Now I cannot do any house chores and I'm watching TV or listening to something on YouTube. I will start to feel very overwhelmed without that

This makes so much sense to me. Everything both of you have said. My constant need to be doing and learning. High fives to you both. Thank you. AA

I have a couple suggestions. Could you possibly do a video on autism and PTSD? And could you also do a video on autism and coprolalia, echolalia and palilalia? I know these symptoms often happen with people with Tourette’s. But don’t autistic individuals experience some of these behaviors also? I’m on the autism spectrum, and I often exhibit some of these behaviors. And I also have complex post traumatic stress disorder, which can make it even harder. I honestly don’t want a cure for my autism, because it doesn’t stop me from being myself. However, I wish there was a cure for PTSD and CPTSD.

Could you do a similar video with OCD vs autism in females? I'm afab and was diagnosed with severe OCD at age 2, but now I think a lot of what they told me was my OCD throughout my life was actually autism. I don't think my OCD was a misdiagnosis at all, but I'm pretty sure I'm autistic and I don't understand how doctors missed it. I'm in my early 30s now and want to seek diagnosis, but I'm a bit scared.

With this video I just started to wonder could it be that ADHD makes your brake spinning but Autism make you moving slow pace and makes difficult to act on it? That could be answer to my self wonders. I´m always suffer that I have millions ideas and plans in my mind needing more to learn and sleeping have been very difficult with all this buzzing. But I have very hard start anything and I always feels that I'm stuck and why bother anyways.

I relate so much with everything here. My "relaxing time" is being a mythic raider in world of Warcraft, which is maths and tactics and plans, and min maxing. With the sensory stuff, I HAVE to have audiobooks or content creators, like right now, to zero out distractions, so I can focus and tidy/clean without ending up making a new thing for my kids or designing something. Also, how you are with Fight Club on loop but I do it with LOTRS

I feel like I relate to her a lot. Especially the part where she just stares at a wall and is frozen…unfortunately this happens to me a lot and it’s when someone speaks to me because I’m spending a lot of time thinking of what they said and thinking of what my response will be. I struggle with this and it hurts when this frustrates other people because then I feel dumb.
