Here is how it goes:
The value is subtracted from the highest power of 10.
The video used 100-96=4 and 100-93=7.
Then they subtracted 7 from 96, 96-7=89
Then they multiplied 7×4= 28
Hence 8928
- It also works with 10-7 n 10- 4, 1000-993n 1000-800, and all that, but it works best with the value like 90+, because the digits are smaller so = faster
- note that if your equation has 6 digits (like 999×999) your value will also contain 6 digits, same goes to 4 digit equation will get 4 digit answer.

96 is 100-4. 93 is 100-7. 96x93 is (100-4)x(100-7), which is equal to Simplifying, this is (10000)-(700)-(400)+(28), or 8928. The technique is useful only for multiplying together two numbers which are each close to a round number, anf wont work well for, for example, 73x58.

For the guys explaining it in a really confusing way it's simply as if the multiplication was (100-4)*(100-7) so now it's easy to calculate 10000-400-700 and you'll be left with 8900+ 4*7 which is 28 so 8928 that's simply it

It doesn't work every time and also you have to remember lots of method, traditional methods are better

This works for the 90's times. How did they come up with the 4 and 7. This is likely different for the other times tables.

We use calculators in South Africa. We are not in the year 1843
