Here's Why You SHOULD NOT Buy The New 2023 Ford Ranger..

Welcome back to Car Central, today on the channel we are going to check out Why you SHOULD NOT buy the new 2023 Ford Ranger. It’s difficult to overstate the importance of the 2023 Ford Ranger in Australia. In one of Australia’s most popular – and hotly contested – markets, the Ranger has been taking on an incumbent favourite head-on. And when you look at four-wheel-drive sales (discounting the two-wheel-drive variants), it often comes out on top. It occupies a staggering slice of Ford’s overall pie in Australia, and lays the foundation for successful spin-offs like the Everest and Ranger Raptor. It’s a job that only gets harder, when you consider how successful and impressive Ford’s outgoing Ranger has remained during its 11-year tenure. It was good enough to take on the Toyota HiLux for sales dominance, and often won the race for 4x4 models.

Those are some big boots to fill, and a whole lot of weight on the shoulders. Goes to reason, then, that Ford engineers have left nothing on the table with a new model. There might have been a temptation to re-skin the current platform, re-jig a few things and sprinkle in some extra tech. However, they didn't do that. Like the T6 Ranger, this next-generation model has been designed, engineered and tested in Australia. It’s not a completely clean-sheet design. Instead, they have taken the successful T6 platform and moved it into a new-generation model. The wheel track has been bumped outwards by 50mm. Not by wheel offset, but by reworked suspension. It’s still leaf-sprung at the back with independent struts up front, but the rear shock absorbers have been mounted outboard of the chassis rails. Oh, and most models – those with an electric park brake – now have rear disc brakes. More about the new 2023 Ford Ranger in this video.

Hope Jeremy Clarkson watch this and take legal action against you for using his photos “misleadingly” as a click bait 😂

With all respect, whatever you said was just pure BS! now that this vehicle is out, I can say for sure that none of the reviewers lied about it - it's a very nice and capable ute! and just fyi, the outgoing Ford Ranger is always been in the top 2 best seller ute/trucks in Asutralia - it has always been a nice vehicle!

Is this a car review? Or just an attempt at negative publicity? Best selling car in Australia. You compare it to a completely different class of car which is pointless. You say it has no power? 184kw 600nm is no power? The car literally has the same engine (detuned because the Ranger weighs a lot less) as the f150 haha. This is stupid.

As an owner of a 2019 model in the USA the only thing I agree with is the rear seats being cramped. How can you compare it to a 150? Not even close to the same pickup. There’s a reason and purpose for both vehicles.

I just bought a 2023 Ranger and so far it has been amazing. No issues regarding engine, windows or size. I am currently using it for commuting and for transporting two or three enduro bikes from home to the jungle and back.

I have a 2022 and I LOVE it. Absolutely zero issues. Just got back from a 1200 mike trip. Regardless of what you are saying I find it to be a great ride. I test drove almost every mid-sized truck available and the Ranger was the all around best. I went with every intention of buying a Tacoma. I didn't even want to test drive a Ranger. My wife talked me in to driving a used one on the Toyota lot. It was better in every way. The Tacoma drove like a 10 year old truck. I left there and bought a new ranger at the Ford dealer.

The new Ranger is already here, the information in this video is purely inaccurate unless you're looking at it from a USA point of view. That model is an overseas model. It has the new V6 diesel engine and everything from the ground up is all new.
The model you're talking about is probably the older model the USA got in 2019.
Re-upload a new video with accurate facts. The model you're showing in that video has already surpassed 20000 pre-orders, the most orders ever seen on any Ford model hands down.

The vehicle shuts off automatically to save fuel. If you don't want it to, just keep your foot lightly on the brakes when stopped, or push the auto on/off switch when you get it (looks like a letter "A" with a circular arc around it). It's not dangerous; it's doing exactly what it is designed to do.

The seats aren't cramped; they're normal sized. This is not a full-sized truck, so it's not going to be F-150 sized. You can't complain it costs more than a medium sized pickup, but then complain it's not as big as a full-sized; you can't have it both ways.

For windshields? Never heard of that happening in Australia. Ever. And the previous generation had been around since 2011. A quick google suggested the aforementioned issue was only in the US. Maybe it's how you guys assemble cars. The Thailand factory didn't seem to produce the same problem...

Yes; everyone would like the F-150 better, but they don't all buy it because some things are outside their price point. That's just how it is sometimes. I'd like a Ferrari, but that's not going to happen. Ask many people if they want a Ferrari too. Horses for courses...

Either you're stupid or complicit in pushing a hit-piece, but there's a plethora of information out there saying the Next Gen Rangers will come with the 2.3L Ecoboost, and the Ranger Raptor will get the 3.0L V6 Ecoboost. You American's and your thirst for "gasoline" are taken care of; calm down. Yes; the F-150 has biggest engines, but it's also a bigger vehicle.

Surprise, surprise; the Ranger is smaller internally, and externally, than the bigger vehicle. Stop the presses! A Ranger will still do plenty for what you need. For some, it will do everything they need. For others; it won't. If a vehicle can't do what you need it to do; don't buy it. People who need the space will take this into account.

This entire video could have been replicated between F-150 and F-250, or F-250 and F-350, etc. With each step up, each model gets bigger, and can take more stuff in the bed. Write this exact same story between Maverick and Ranger, and you'll determine Ranger to be the winner, and Maverick to be not worth it. Do Car Central just hate Ranger? This is clearly full of bias.

Australia doesn't produce cars. We haven't for 5 years. We've never produced Ranger here anyway, so we never "stopped production due to faulty fuel injectors". Again; either incompetent, or deliberately lying. They did temporarily stop sales of the BiTurbo back in 2018, but they didn't stop producing anything, because they don't make anything.

Not sure about the gearbox. Gearboxes have long been the Achilles Heel of Fords. There's no shortages of stories, posts, affidavits, etc, regarding Fords going into "limp home" mode when the transmission overheats, or lawsuits over dodgy transmissions (believe that one though was Fiesta's/Focus's/Mondeo's). Ford have made changes to the Next Gen gearbox and engines though, and they now only come in automatic, and have features to help prevent abuse leading to decreased longevity. A recent test of the new V6 diesel Ranger against a V6 diesel VW Amarok (a model that is 6 years old), showed the VW was still faster in a drag race because the Fords' computer intervened in low gears, reducing torque output from maximum, likely to prevent excessive wear or strain on components. That's a good thing.

The Next Gen Ranger lineup has far outstripped Ford's supplier abilities here in Australia. Some buyers are seeing wait times in excess of 12 months for their new Ranger. Typically these limitations are for orders optioned with Premium parts (Matrix LED headlights, 360 cameras, tow packs, Bang & Olufson stereo, etc). Customers who want to drop that sort of stuff are able to get vehicles in weeks.

2 months ago - despite not even having officially gone on sale yet - Ford Australia had over 6 months worth of Rangers on pre-order. That's likely gone up since it went on sale, and that doesn't include fleet buyers who will have placed orders through fleet websites after it went on sale.

Next Gen Ranger could be about to become Australia's #1 selling vehicle in 2023, so that's a pretty solid reaffirment of the vehicle's credentials; a vehicle can't be #1 if it's rubbish.

I'd be surprised if the US didn't really take to the Next Gen Ranger either.

Ive driven a few new Ford Rangers and think they are excellent for what they are designed to do. Superb grip in 4x4 mode.

Owner of a 2022 Ranger Lariat FX4, absolutely love it !! Spoken with a few owners over the last year, haven't heard any complaints from anyone of them. Weird, no recalls either....

I call Bullshit with a capital B. My 2022 Ranger FX4 Lariat, built in Michigan, USA, is the best truck, actually the best vehicle, that I've ever owned, in my 52 years of owning many trucks and cars. I guess haters gonna hate?

I have a 2020 Ranger, US spec. It’s been a great little truck so far with zero regrets. You are correct that it doesn’t have the best rear seat in the market, but since it’s mostly just me and sometimes my wife as well rear seat didn’t matter. I ordered mine as a Super Cab with the longer bed anyway. Come back when you actually have facts and are not just trying a smear campaign.

I’m retired and living in the Philippines and I am picking up my 2023 ford ranger sport 4x2 in about a week or two. It’s already at the dealership and I’ve sat in it and being a 5’10” 210lbs American I was more than comfortable in the front seats and the back seat with the front seats left in the position I had them in when I sat up front. I am also benefiting from the fact that I got the trim level just above the XLT so full leather and keyless entry with push button start and my OTD price is only $26k USD.

Is this some kind of joke? The only thing that disappoints me about the 2022 Ranger is the lack of a manual transmission and a standard cab version (no rear seat or automatic glitch to worry about then.)

Quite a bizzare video. I've only heard very positive reports on the previous and 2023 Ranger.

Hello everyone, I bought a Ford Ranger wildtrak year 2022, absolutely perfect, no problems so far. In a few years I will see if all these problems will actually arrive as described in the video. Here in Europe there are many Ford Rangers, but I have never heard of such serious problems. Best regards
