Early German elections: What issues will dominate the campaign trail? | DW News

The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has lost a confidence vote in the parliament
The move paves the way for snap elections, which are now planned for late February.
Scholz's governing coalition collapsed after one of his two junior partners, the liberal Free Democrats (FDP), quit the Social Democrat led government last month. The two parties had long sparred over economic policy, prompting Scholz to fire FDP leader and finance minister Christian Lindner. It was the final straw for the coalition after months of internal squabbling.
After Scholz lost his majority in parliament, the opposition conservatives - who currently lead the opinion polls - pressured the Chancellor to speed up his plan to call a confidence vote.
It is only the fifth of its kind in the country's postwar history.

Moral of the story: you cannot make a coalition with a party that has a completely oposing core ideology.

I guess they could compromise with each other as long as the economy was good, but after the War in Ukraine, inflation, energy crisis, etc, there was no more room in the budget for them to make all 3 happy. Expectations can be reset after a new election and new composition of the Bundestag is established.

Can we find someone not focused on the Ukraine war but instead in Germany ?

A great victory for democracy. Our ruzzian bots may see the difference. Here someone asked parliament for a vote of confidence and knew that he would lose and that there would be new elections. It was even agreed to ask this question and there is a date for elections. He gave up power voluntarily, without violence.

This government is obliged to resign. Whatever it does, it will lead to the collapse of the economy.

🇮🇳 As the international community focuses on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, it's equally essential for Germany to address its domestic challenges.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government aims to regain the trust of the German people by working diligently to revitalize the country's economy. This effort is crucial in restoring stability and promoting growth in Germany.

I have sympathy for Chancellor Olaf Scholz. He seems a nice person, only being blamed for situations not of his making but previous government policies, short-sightedness of car makers and external forces especially the US.
