On Sunday night, for the first time ever, the AfD won a state election in Germany on what was a great night for them overall and another poor showing for the incumbent coalition. So what actually happened? And who will form each state's government?

Most likely an anti - afd coalition with all kinds of uneasy alliance which won't achieve much

I'd suggest not using bar graphs when explaining coalitions, but rather semi-circles, to depict seats in parliament. Makes it more intuitive and you can easily depict how many factions are needed to form a majority. It was very hard to understand in this video.

so now parties in those regions will have to make some very weird coalitions that wont accomplish much because it will be a huge mixture of ideologies and because they wont accomplish much people there will get even more frustrated and even more of them will radicalize by voting for AfD.

You always wrote CDU/CSU, but that is wrong for both states- there is no CSU in these states but only the CDU

Nobody is talking about the youth vote overwhelmingly being for AfD whilst the 50+ demographic voted for pro-immigration parties.

In Europe, there's a growing sense of neglect towards the younger generation. They face lower salaries, longer work hours, and increased responsibilities while witnessing a surge in billionaires, particularly in countries like Germany.
The housing market adds to their woes, as property prices soar, making it difficult to afford homes, let alone start families. To compensate, cheap labor from abroad is often favored, leading to frustration among the youth, who feel betrayed.
People aren't inherently racist, but this frustration arises when governments prioritize external labor over addressing domestic issues. It's high time politicians acknowledge and tackle these pressing concerns rather than resorting to distractions. The younger generation deserves meaningful change.

As I understand it: In Denmark, the mainstream parties just addressed some of the nationalists' more reasonable concerns. And the hard-right fringe parties evaporated. It's that simple, to avoid a much darker future for Europe.

3:40 However, this coalition doesn't have a majority because they only have 23 (CDU) + 6 (SPD) + 15 (BSW) = 44 seats, while the Landtag has 88 seats in total. They have exactly half of the seats but would need more than half to form a majority.
4:29 While The Left is below the 5% threshold, it is still in the Landtag because enough candidates were voted directly into the Landtag.

Just saying, but if the AFD is growing to 30+% of the vote share, there is a big argument about the main stream party needing to listen a bit more the voter

This is exactly what happens when you ignore the worries of the general population about uncontrolled illegal migration. Far right wing parties come to power. Instead of acknowledging that there are objective problems with immigration and assimilation like rising wave of terrorist attacks, religious radicalization, increasing crime statistics, isolated cultural ghetto units without cross cultural contact with the native population - the establishment parties prefer to give that entire electorate to parties like AfD and Wagenknecht's. Then they get on their high horse and label anyone concerned with these problems as a racist, effectively alienating people further and making a debate about immigration impossible. I'm a leftist, but the establishment parties are commiting political suicide by not addressing this issue.

You can't 'foster anti-immigration sentiments' if there wasn't an issue to begin with. It's like 'fostering a feeling of drought'—if there's plenty of water, you can't foster anything. However, if you open the tap and no water flows, then there is some truth to the claim.

my friend lives in Brandenburg, and he said AfD will win there next month by a large margin.

Honestly, I'm more worried about BSW.
-Party is headed by a charismatic leader
-That leader entered into politics after failing to earn an art degree
-The ideology is a combination of nationalism and socialism

I live in the middle east. Egypt specifically.
The types of people who run away from here to go to Europe are typically the worst of the worst types.
People trying to avoid prison in their home countries for serious crimes, such as rape, or extremism, or other things such as this.
Even the ones who are not those serious cases are going for bad reasons, because they are economic oppurtunists or they want to be around European women.
Not a single one is coming because he loves or appreciates Europe. Those of us here who love and appreciate Europe visit as tourists and pay money for hotels.
Instead of going there in a raft and begging on the street.

The German political establishment condemned the AFD as Hitlerian, but the BSW which is actually describable as "German National Socialism" gets a free pass

Ah yes, the old "it's only democracy when you choose the people we want you to".

the only baffling thing is how the other parties are ignoring how much people want fewer immigrants in their countries. people are not voting for afd, le pen and others because suddenly they are far right extremists. they are voting because they are so sick of immigrants they are willing to overlook all the other shit these parties bring with them. and, since the other parties refuse to address this, they are just kicking the can down the line to the next elections when the afd might not even need another party to form a government.
