I finally got out to do some painting a few days ago. This is a 9 x 12 inch oil on panel. The palette I used was: Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Cad. Yellow Light, Cad. Yellow, Perm. Alizarin Crimson, Cad. Red, and a bit of Ivory Black. To paint the water I used my Rosemary and Co. Dagger brush. I really like them...they provide a range of strokes.I only used turps. to thin my paint when needed. You can see in the video how I've reserved stronger contrasts in detail for the left corner of the painting where the two foreground birches are. This keeps attention on my focal point there.
Thank you for watching the video.

Do some nail polish on the end of Your brush. That helps against the sparkle

Hi Bruce, Your paintings are awesome! I know exactly what you mean by the "ugly duckling stage". I've always just refered to it as the ugly stage but ugly duckling is more appropriate considering your paintings become swans at the end. Nice job!

I always learn so much from your videos Great advise Great techniques as usual....im surprised that you didn't give the algae more dimension by adding a little shadow color around the front edge or am I crazy for saying that? ive never used oil ground mostly because I don't know what to buy to try...any advice?
