I figured this out 36 years ago when I was in training to be a nurse. Although I avoid doctors like the plague in my personal life, I unfortunately ended up in a walk in clinic after injuring my arm recently. I had it x-rayed and the MD insisted there was no break. I knew it was broken, so I insisted that a radiologist look at my x-ray, much to the MD’s dismay and objection. Anyway, my arm was in fact broken and misdiagnosed. No surprise.

That's correct about the billing. It's shameful. The insurance companies want their money so they want doctors to do LESS testing to make proper diagnoses. And physicians don't really seem to care enough to push back nor do they stay current on new science. It's sick

A primary doctor sent me to a neurologist, and an MRI was done. When I returned to the neurologist for the results, he said, *_"stay away from these people."_* That was the best advice any doctor has ever given me. I'll be sending the primary a copy of the article.

I had a friend tell me how a yearly blood test came back with all sorts of bad numbers showing many problems he never had before.

The doctor didn't try to reorder the test. The doctor didn't question it. Instead, doctor wanted to prescribe new meds.

The friend questioned this logic - and instead of the doctor just reordering the test - doctor referred him to a specialist! When the specialist reordered the very same test? The results were all normal - just like they had been for the past 3 years with the primary doctor.

The friend now has to find a new primary as trust is lost.

Now what if this same scenario happened to an older senior living alone, a senior who was raised to "always trust the doctor"?

That senior would just start taking the newly prescribed meds, and who knows the extent of harm that could cause them? At least they would start feeling more unwell, or worse, a trip to the ER and maybe hospitalization, or even death, because their heart started malfunctioning, or they got dizzy and fell because their blood pressure or sugar levels tanked!

Yet this primary doctor chose to refer to specialist, vs. doing the most common sense thing himself - just reorder the test!! It would have been cheaper for everyone, and gotten proper results much sooner, since my friend had to wait months to see the specialist!

Thank you for talking about this as it is tragic! I know doctors who told a woman she had the flu when she really had stage 4 lung cancer--she died less than a year later. Then there were doctors that told a man he had a pulled muscle from a fender-bender when he was actually having a heart attack (thankfully he got a second opinion and found a good dr and underwent quadruple bypass) and another set who told my best friend she had a virus when she had a blood clot (an intern saved her life).

My Oncologist told me he could cure the aggressive NHL and he did! It took lots of prayer and endurance through treatments but after 4 treatments (toxins) yes but the cancer was totally gone as he said would happen! Walking in year 6 still NO Evidence of cancer!✔️ He was reassuring upfront and very kind and gentle! So all doctors are not bad!

I found this out in 2021 . My wife died in 2021. Alone in the hospital when I was not permitted to visit her because of the pandemic bs! She had a cancer and no covid.

GO JEFF!! As part of an online patient safety group- most of us injured patients have known this for a Long time.

Our groups have tried working on Transparency and Accountability… to little avail.. though some progress… which often shows in all that patients in USA are at the mercy of a Well Protected business model.
