I'm so glad you liked it. I just finished it & LOVED it. I really like what you said about the relationship between Violet & Xaden & how supportive it is. I read some reviews where they described Xaden as a bully. I never got that AT ALL, so I don't know what those people think they read. If anyone's a bully, it's Dain. He drove me BATSHIT!

The narrative certainly TELLS us that Violet is smart, but is she really? The main way the author really tries to show this is by having her poison her sparing opponents, but it also tells us that this is not a sustainable tactic because (and I quote) "You won't be able to slip poison into a griffin rider's tea on the battlefield". Our supposedly smart main character should have been able to see that which only begs the question of what her character motivation is since she also rejects solutions to her problems that fall into her lap despite any semblance of common sense.
