Expressions are powerful and you can do so much, here is a quick tutorial for after effects that will show you how to find the distance from the layer to the center of comp, and use that to drive the opacity. its pretty cool.

Hi!
Great tutorials, im learning a lot man! thanks!

This one brings on my mind one thing that i allways wanted to figured out but i never had the chance.
That would be, to lower the opacity of a layer, in relation to the distance of the z axes with the camera.
In order to make kind a foggy style vanishing effect. So the object move away from the camera and vanish into the fog.
Any thoughts?
Cheers!

Hi, could you help me with one expression?  i used the same expression from this video and i pasted it in the scale property. But it didn't work as  i spectated. What i want is an expression that make the scale of an object go smaller based on distance from center or from certain object.

Example: The shadow of a character. If the character jump, the shadow should go smaller. is there a way to automate this?

Sorry for my English ;)

How can you compute the centre of a composition without hardcoding the values?
