You probably know that boys don't get compliments often. So, if a guy had to make a video going over every compliment that they've ever received in their entire life, it would be a short video.

A girl complimented my hair once. I'm not sure if it was in '99 or in '00, but it was early October and the weather was nice and sunny. Humidity was above average, maybe 65-70%.

Men don't tend to get appearance-based compliments as much, even if they're particularly good-looking and/or stylish. Women, on the other hand, don't get as many compliments for personality, even if they deserve it. As a gal, I told a guy last week that I really enjoyed his comments in class, and that they always offered a perspective I hadn't previously thought of. He said he was always worried they were dumb comments and I was shocked, as someone who had to pluck up the courage to even look him in the eye.

It just taught me that I need to be a little bit braver, cause men are amazing and they need it.

My ex and I talked in length about how men often don't get casual compliments from people they're not dating, so now I go out of my way at work (customer service) to compliment men on something casual. It's hard to do without coming across as flirty so I have to sort of pick and choose (for example, i won't go out of my way to compliment younger boys in groups with their friends bc they'll take it as flirting), but that 30 something year old dude with a nice shirt? Absolutely.

My greatest achievement from my teen schooling years is being told something along the lines of "You're the only guy in this class I don't hate" by four girls across 3 different occassions. It's not even necessarily a compliment but at the very least im consistently not terrible and that means more to me than it probably should lol
