Thanks again Phil for keeping the promise with my superchat about acoustics on the channel. You're a truly dedicated content creator for the people 🙌 hope this video crushes it!

I have a Martin DX1R (made in Mexico) very similar to this guitar with the same style wood on the neck, and it is by FAR the best acoustic guitar I have ever owned. It ALWAYS stays in tune. I mean, it NEVER EVER goes out of tune and it just blows my mind. My other acoustics (which I love too) will go out of tune if you even look at them wrong. But this one, just is in tune all the time. And I bought it in 2016 and took if overseas with me for several years and I never had to tune it. Brought it back home with me to NC and I never have to tune it. There is just something really great about Martin Guitars. I don't know what it is.... They play so well, sound so nice, and stay well in tune. This is a $500 Guitar Center purchase that I will never regret!

i am blown away how good you demo a guitar- i've seen so many youtubers show this ridiculous chord shapes that a jazz play won't touch- but you keep it simple and play very innovative original ideas that sound great- whether it be an acoustic, an electric a pedal or an amp- all your demos lead the player/listener with ideas of something they can do and handle or want to do. great job as always-

This is a very well done video. I would like to see more acoustic stuff from you! Anyway, the guitar sounds nice, but it definitely has differences in sound quality, depending on where you place the mic. Electronics sound a bit bland, but I’m sure that can be tweaked. Overall appears to be well made, and has a nice acoustic sound…And again, a very well rounded take on this Martin with every point covered. Great job, Phillip!

Kitchen counter are made from HPL. My 60 year old Framus has the same neck made from layers and it’s not neck diving at all.

The sound between the polished fret and non polished fret was pretty dramatic. Always great videos. Thanks Phil.

Glad you did this video. I bought the black 000 special ii three years ago next week. At guitar center. I love it. I'm hard on guitars and it is basically indestructible. I describe it as counter top material as well. I also have a dreadnaught x series 12 string I bought used and I love it as well. It has wood laminate sides and back and a solid spruce top. A bit more expensive but sounds amazing. Wish they had a tuner in them. A feature added later. Learned a lot. Thank you!

I am 71, I own vintage acoustic and electric guitars. I bought Martin black 000 cxe in 2009 played it Berkshires outside gigs vfw roofed patio in rain. Fantastic guitar, bought 1xe this summer in black. They are warm quieter than dreadnought but wonderful thru yamaha THR5A or Fender 40w acoustasonic. My 000 Fishman died added kk no battery pickups, 1xe improve electronic. Both wonderful. Your videos for years are my Bible of music info. So this long comment I hope will help others. My 000 Martin used in studio on new single. I'm in Blush Hollow Band. Thanks Phil you helped me pick out lots guitars

Literally received the all black version of this yesterday. My first Martin, and I love it.

I have a parts-caster and the neck is specked identical to my Martin neck. 13” radius. Love it.

That neck being made out of Baltic birch is actually a good idea in many ways. It's not going to be susceptible to warping or twisting with temperature change.
You made enough of a point on this guitar that I'm gonna have to go visit my local music shop and play one . Thanks for sharing the info.

I've got one of these in all black as a camping/backup guitar and it's been great.

We have a lake house that we only fully heat and cool when we're there. I have one of these hung on the wall. Plays great, sounds great, looks great. Pickup sounds great too. Temps go from 80 degrees in the summer to 55 in the winter. I couldn't have picked a better guitar to play and leave at the lake.

Excellent and informative video. For the fret polishing, I’ve found that the 0000 steel wool and fret guards are the quickest and easiest way to get beautiful, smooth frets. I bought the Music Nomad Grip Guards (fret guards with handles) because they are very easy to use. They cost $11.50 for a set of three from Amazon, Sweetwater, GC, or any number of other places.

I have a 12 string Martin that is built this way. I've had it for maybe 6 or 7 years. It sounds great. This is a good technology that is well researched. I also have a Takamine P5DC and a Taylor 314CE for reference. Also a Cordoba Solista which I mainly play. These Martins are good guitars.

Chris Martin did a show where he explained how the Mexico X series are built. He said they use sawdust from the Martin factory, and it gets shipped to Mexico, where they make the laminate. He said when they started this project that if it didn't sound like a Martin he wouldn't let them make them. A spruce top X series is made of spruce sawdust. Mine has a pouch inside the case under the neck. That's where the allen wrench is. Mine has a Fishman pickup. I don't know if that makes a difference.
Chris Martin said that a lot of traveling bands take these X series guitars because they are less susceptible to temp or humidity changes.
