Periodic fever syndrome or Recurrent fever syndrome are a group of disorders where you see recurrent fever which are not of infectious etiology like viral or bacterial. It's considered as autoinflammatory disease which means there's some impairment in the innate immunity. It is not an autoimmune disease. Genetic mutation is one of the cause for recurrent fevers. Age of onset is usually two to five years. However it decreases after the age of 10. So when it comes to symptoms children will have recurrent episodes of fevers there is Aphthous ulcers. There is lymph node enlargement around the neck, there is pharyngitis. Sometimes it again depends upon the type of recurrent fever. There is arthritis involved. The treatment depends upon the type of syndrome and the medications are for lifelong.
