Creation and Governance (Aquinas 101)

“The Lord has made all things for Himself.” (Proverbs 16:4)

Creation is not God igniting the first spark of physical things or changing or moving things from one state to another. Rather, it is God giving existence and being to everything simultaneously and always. Insofar as things exist, they depend upon God who causes them to be and this activity is creation. Everything that exists is being created by God, sustained in being.

Please let the bishops know in the most universal way possible about your channel! This is high quality content that the Universal Church needs to know about. Thanks for this ministry!

I’m glad to see Fr. White featured in these videos! I visited the Dominican House of Studies years ago when I was discerning a vocation, and Fr. White spent nearly an hour explaining the “analogy of being” to me over coffee. A very humble and generous man. Fr. Brent and Fr. Legge are also just as warm and open as they appear in these videos. Thank you for producing these excellent videos to share Thomism with a wider audience!

Creation is the giving of being, and the sustaining in being, to and of, all things

This is a magnificent communication of the needed ‘substance of teaching’ needed in the Universal Church today...I am greatly blessed and enlarged in my spirit each time I listen to these segments! Thanks be to GOD for this course of study for common members of HIS Church!

These videos are so wonderful, the depth and insight of St Thomas Aquinas is unparalleled, I wish he hadn't said all the had written was as straw for us recipients have been left a precious treasure of his understanding, a deep well of beauty. Thank you all so much for this project, my husband and i are both converting to Catholicism as we speak. Bless you all.

Holy smoke, this was a profound presentation of both the wonder of who God is and His creation of all things leading up to the beatific vision. I would have never grasped half its depth without studying Aquinas. Thank you for your great work. I am an Evangelical.

How are you guys popping these out so fast?! These are great. I think the graphic/digital artist/animator should look into doing something for Catholicism in general — or the early Church. There is a beautiful series called the Bible Project. But I think Catholicism could use something engaging like this. Aquinas 101 is pretty cool!

I admit I do not understand all that is taught but I won't give up trying to understand. My best test of my understand is to try teaching same to my 7 year-old grandson. If I can explain to him I probably understand something.

If the existence is of a External cause, outside our possibility of perception, then the cause must be, necessarily, universal.

If God continually creates, then Creation is eternal.
If Creation is happening now, then science cannot be done.

Can I say that since According to my study of st. Thomas aquinas that God's essence is his existence therefore all things participate in the existence of God.therefore in all things existing apart from God can be and not be. But since they exist they again are because of God. Hence if God isn't then we can never know what a thing is or the essence of a thing since it must first exist then we can examine it. Same is true for man if we don't exist we can never know what we are through the sciences, philosophy and theology. This conclusion came from my understanding of cause and effect, and potency and act. I would love a reply from your institute
