Critics however would argue that it's not the case lest Jesus would be having favoritism which can't be a quality of God.

I engaged with that critic. On the contrary that closeness signifies intimacy. If it were intimacy, then yes, for the sake of argument, yes, God is prone to favoritism. In our pilgrimage, those who have not yet responded to the invitation to intimacy Jesus pursues because Jesus is Love. Intimacy however means worship, discipleship and apostleship. That's intimacy par excellence.

Only a mother would understand the intimacy they would have with their children! They did carry them in the womb and fill their needs and were completely attached to them all their lives except when they went off and when are their own way. But of course mothers and especially Mary are completely different than anybody else with a child. The only thing I ask is yes we love Mary and we go to Mary but isn’t it better to go to the source? Which is Jesus? That’s Confusing

I mean, this isn't unreasonable, but what's the conclusion?

Do we need to draw near to Mary to draw near to Christ?
By no means, for we have no mediator between man and God but Christ, and so Christ is accessible, indeed He must be if any are to be saved at all.

So while I say with all the Church that Mary is most blessed among all women, I don't know that having an undue emphasis on her is wise or profitable when Scripture doesn't do so either.

She is the surest path that leads to her Son. ❤ Why not pray directly to God? Go for it! But have you ever tried tirelessly to overcome sinful nature and keep falling? Of course. She will ensure you continue to get up, and never stop getting up and walking the narrow path until you obtain heaven.
