This NASA visualization shows a rapid decline in Arctic Sea ice over the last 35 years.

In the 1st week of January 1988, over 1.2 million sq. miles were covered by sea ice 4 years of age or older, compared with just over 44,000 sq. miles in the same week in 2019.

I have lived in the same place for 50 years, there has been a slow moving but noticeable climate difference, from the plants that grow to the insects that are here, the temperatures has been rising during the summers that actually start later but last longer into the year, the winters are way shorter, and warmer, the people that deny any climate change have no brains that haven’t been washed by someone else, the majority of people go through life with blinders on and do not have a memory that last longer than a days, and every body is from somewhere else, well most are, me I am outdoors everyday, I have a memory, I have had 5 addresses in my entire life, and I pay attention to what going on around me, there is a climate change that has been occurring for decades, I believe that 55 years ago and 5 billion less people it was less than it is now, but 5 billion extra people has to have an impact on the planet, if people say humans are not causing climate to change, they are either dumber than a box of rocks or make their living off it.

I live in Alaska where it has been obvious for twenty years.
Do you have any idea of how stupid we consider the deniers? I do not think you do, it is really profoundly stupid on their part.

0:35 You can start to see the Ice start to melt out into the seas year after year above and around GreenLand.

But I just put on my MAGA hat, grabbed a Sharpie, and VOILA! No ice loss!

This graphic was created from satellite images taken over three + decades. And it clearly indicates not only the decline sea ice cover especially beginning in 2007, but also a decline in multi-year ice. This raises the serious concern and likelyhood of a sharp decline in sea ice throughout the Arctic leading to at least a late summer Arctic free of sea ice in the near future. An ice free Arctic means a much lower albedo or less reflected sunlight off the ice that is no longer there. This means greater warming of the Arctic Ocean and further melting of sea ice for longer periods of the summer/fall. A warmer Arctic means a much warmer planet!!!

Watch out!

The "white" is not the ice! The White is only the 4-year-old ice. Maybe.

The stark white represents "ice of over 4 years of age."
The dull grey represents the extent of ice, period.

Everyone watches the "death" of the white, and their hearts break to see it die.

Meanwhile, the extent has NOT diminished in this video. The dull gray extent expands and contracts roughly equally over the years. I dare you to watch the video again, but ignore the stark white and just watch the expansion and contraction of the dull grey.

This is not a video of "Decline of Arctic Sea Ice" -- it is a video of "Decline of 4-year-old Arctic Sea Ice, " so this video and it's headline is an unfair piece of slant. Add: making the extent dull grey and the 4Y stark white is also spin and slant. NASA 'mentions' 4-year in passing, buried in the text, and 'includes' the dull grey extent (so they can claim they did), but they hope you will only watch the stark white, in terror.

So, the only alarming thing here is, "What is the truth about 4-year old ice?"
1) how did NASA determine what constitutes 4Y ice, and what were the boundaries of 4Y ice for 35 years?
2) did they have the same, extremely accurate data-collection protocols for 4Y going all the way back 35 years?
3) since the extent is not shrinking, what is the true significance of the 4Y, (on the stipulation that this data is even accurate)

The true fact about arctic ice gain/loss should be: volume. As a matter of fact, why does NASA not show a video of loss of Volume? That could potentially be much more devastating. I doubt they have meaningful data on total volume going back 35 years.

Even if Total Volume is diminishing, the way NASA spun this up is cynical. They can't show a video of the extent shrinking, so they simulated this for drama. They are shooting for emotional reaction, not factual presentation.

One doesn't need to live in Greenland to experience the effects of Climate Change. Where I live in Southern California, when I moved in to my house in 1983, we used to have June bug swarms each July for about four weeks or so. Talking about thousands and thousands of brown beetles, harmless and somehow useful, everywhere around the house, the yard, the neighbors. Didn't really notice it until about ten years ago when they seemed to have disappeared. Gone, absent, void. What happened? Couldn't say but gone they are. We saw one this year, ONE! Climate change? Make your own conclusion.

Is it a good time to buy land in Greenland?

So what's gonna happen next after all the ice has melted? Then what? it will be just sea water and then what, fishing?
