According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia has started withdrawing some troops from the Ukrainian border. But NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told a press conference at alliance headquarters in Brussels: "So far we have not seen any de-escalation on the ground, not any signs of reduced Russian military presence on the borders of Ukraine."

Gewrman Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Moscow today to meet with ussian President Vladimir Putin. In a joint press conference after meeting, the chancellor said "it is our absolute duty as heads of government that Europe does not see an escalation into war." Scholz added that high-level dialogue between Russian and Germany's European partners is essential to achieving stability moving forward.

"We are ready to work further together. We are ready to go down the negotiations track," Putin told the press conference.

Putin added that Germany "is one of Russia's most important partners" and said it intended to cooperate further with Berlin. He emphasized the role of economic ties between the two, with Germany being Russia's second-biggest trade partner after China.

All the biases against Russia just goes to show the lack of knowledge people have on this situation between NATO and Russia.
There is no right or wrong sides here. NATO is expanding near Russia, something Russia doesn’t want. It’s like if Russia were to become allies with Mexico and had it troops and technology stationed there. The U.S. would not like that and would understandably feel threatened and get defensive.

Similar thing happened in the Cuban missile crisis where the U.S. was in a similar position as Russia is rn.

So he doesn’t want NATO in Ukraine, but didn’t he think that by posing threat and annexing Crimea he will force Ukraine to join it?

What people are missing is that China is intently studying everything about the Ukraine crisis for purposes of applying lessons learned to the Taiwan question.

NATO: Every country has a right to self determination and a right to defend itself from aggression from hostile external threats.
To be fair, If S/American countries ask Russia or China to set up military bases for security and protection, the US should also respect their choice

Why did the reporter ask this simple-minded and very obvious question? Anyone could have guessed Putin's reply would be.
