Ukraine crisis: Putin to review US response to Russia’s security demands amid fears over invasion

An "opening for dialogue" but "not optimistic" - was how Russia met America's response to their set of security demands today.

A sign they might allow diplomacy to take its course. Russia said President Putin will take his time to review the document before issuing a response.

One more item on the agenda after the Ukraine Oil/Gas-LNG issue, that's the Northern Arctic Sea Route. The Western nations want to control the entire Sea Route which cuts through Russian waters. So after fooling around with Oil and Gas we will see yet another reason for war. We just can't help ourselves.

For perspective, the Western Europeans should insist that the negotiations over the future of the Russian separatists in the Ukraine be moved to Munich. My take on Putin's saber-rattling is that he is creating a context where the NATO nations would prefer a (properly supervised) referendum over having to respond to a military incursion. The main reason NATO nations don't want to do that is they themselves often have separatists - and allowing one such referendum may spawn many others. YMMV.
