The microphone wouldn't be nearly as powerful as Google's Home, so if you have to get close to speak to it, then you might as well use your phone?! Good idea tho.

I made a concept of Google Smart Tab. It's a tablet with 2 JBL Speakers, 1 on each side. Also with a Bluetooth Mic that has a range of 6 feet.

For the people saying that they have way older androids than 7.1, by old he means phones that you replaced/don't use anymore.

It's a good idea but doesn't work very well in practise. The phone's mic isn't good enough to understand commands from more than a meter or two away. This gets much worse as ambient noise increases. I also haven't been able to find a way to keep the mobile device from turning the screen off and sleeping after a period of time. Also, bluetooth speakers often have an auto-off function, which is seriously annoying. You'll find after a period of inactivity that both your phone is asleep and no longer connected to the bluetooth speaker. Also, voice recognition for multiple users, "voice match, " which works with individual accounts (email, calendar, personal routines, YouTube, Netflix etc.) won't work. So the device will only be useful to one person in the home.

Ultimately, buying a cheap Google Home Mini is a more useful option, especially when it's discounted, as it regularly is.

Sadly, unless I'm wrong, where this dramatically falls short is that this unit when it be able to be placed into an audio group.

damnit, my bluetooth speaker cuts off the first second of so of audio. So when I ask google the time it'll respond, "....irty pm" Probrably best to connect the phone to speaker via aux cable to prevent this from happening.

This seems to work only if screen is on, or shortly after turning it off.
