No. No. I absolutely should not. It's a ridiculous purchase, I'd never recover financially. But do i want one? Oh god yes.

Your "how to justify buying a Range Rover" videos always make me smile.

Just worked out I first drove a Range Rover 42 years ago! I have owned them for 35 years. They are the best. You have to put up with occasional sarcastic reliability comments mainly from those who have never owned one and who keep surprisingly quiet when their BMW is in for repair. The Range Rover versatility and driving experience makes it worthwhile though. Nobody does it better - as Carly sang.

Boy does this look a million times better than the new generation.

'The Range Rover is the best car in the world. It just is.' Can't beat a thoroughly well thought out and comprehensively constructed opinion! 😄

Matt, while I’m also a self confessed LR addict, I had two L405’s from new, back to back and they were dogs. The P525 was incredible but broke down twice in 36 hours, lesson learned.

Just bought one and quite literally the most comfortable vehicle I’ve ever driven. All my friends have negative opinions about the Range Rover, I think it’s amazing and I already want another one!

Mate of mine just payed £106000 for his. Just taken it in for the 1000 mile run in service check and when he asked if everything was OK they said " yes just a little oil leak on gearbox but nothing to worry about yet". I was daft enough to have 2 and both threw out so much transmission fluid I had to have my drive re- block paved. My wife and I used to try and guess the stance of ours in the morning as the air suspension would constantly play up and leave the rear or the front on the ground. When they work they are great but you know when it's getting bad when your on fist name terms with the recovery drivers.

The reality is the way they make you feel. You truly feel special, it's time when you feel on top of the world. Where you know your hard-work has paid off and you can ride in a bit of luxury, even if nobody else sees you (but secretly hope everyone notices).

I hope you get to review the new xc90 t8 soon. From what I can tell, we share a similar appreciation for certain cars and the aforementioned Volvo has been my biggest ownership surprise in recent years. Just a terrific all rounder. That said, I still miss the sense of accomplishment you get behind the wheel of the Range Rover.

You're right on two fronts here: (i) time is the most precious commodity and (ii) although I hanker after a Range Rover, there's no justification for spending £60-80k on one ...

Great to see another RR video from you Matt. Your enthusiasm is addictive and your confidence in the brand is heartily encouraging. Your previous one is serving me well.

I totally agree with your review. I have just swapped my 2018 P525 Autobiography for a newer low mileage 2020 SV Autobiography P565. This has every option imaginable and is almost too powerful and harder riding than the P525. I can safely say that the P525 is the best and most satisfying car I have ever owned. It was a beautiful Dark Metallic Racing Green with a Tan Leather interior and always felt really special. I have gone for the the 2020 SV while I wait for my series 5 to arrive. Pity about the change of engine from the 5L V8 supercharged to a 4.4L BMW V8 Twin Turbo in the new model. I have really like the 5L V8, the economy is quite respectable. I think the P525 2018 model is an extremely hard act to beat!

As a car fan I can appreciate many vehicles I'd have no need or desire to own . Just can't get the range rover unless you need the 4x4 as a necessity . Each to their own.

As an auto el;ectrician i see loads of these motors and they are an absolute nightmare, great when everything is working but a money pit when they go wrong.

Honestly despite their commonality, i must say a green, l405, 4.4 sdv8 autobiography is my dream car! Just got to get a well payed job and save enough money to drop 80grand on it 🤣

I’ve always had Range Rovers, they are incredible vehicles, a word of advice, if you can’t afford to maintain one don’t buy one, you need deep pockets and I’m quite happy to pay for absolute excellence.

Sadly my recent ownership experience of an approved used RRS was poor. 3 electronic faults that caused the car to cut out and a diesel leak, combined with a dealer that supplied me with a hire car without functioning aircon and for a weekend only when the car hadn't even started being worked on convinced me that for all the good things, I was going to have to pay a high price in wasted time. So I bought a 21 plate Lexus RX450h, which is more comfortable, just as capable round corners, and hopefully never to become a regular at the dealer. Je ne regrette rien!
