Birth control pills cause contraception by suppressing the ovulation that is the release of the egg. This is possible because birth control pills send negative signals to the brain pituitary gland by suppressing the FSH, LH hormone release. So when a lady uses this birth control pills for some time, this negative feedback whatever this birth control pills is sending to the bran may persist even after she stops using the pills. Then she may get this post pill amenorrhea. She may not menstruate along with not ovulating. But this is a self-limiting condition. Usually in 6 months’ time it will settle. If she is really worried, after 3 months we should consider treating her, The treatment is we are going to induce the ovulation using medicine like clomiphene citrate. When we use these medicine for more than 3 months, automatically she starts ovulating, it is not a worrisome condition. You need not worry about this condition.
