In today's travel vlog, we discuss the 10 Things You Should Never Do in Spain and the Don'ts of Spain. I really enjoy making these lists about the things not to do in Spain or wherever. There is lots of talk about Spanish food in this vlog!

Just like any where else you might have some Spanish culture shock and learning a little about Spanish culture can go a long way. There are some social rules in Spain that every tourist and expat in Spain should be aware of so you know what not to do in Spain. Whether you are moving to Spain or just visiting Spain. These things you should never do in Spain will help!

Etiquette in Spain is similar to most parts of Europe but there are some differences. Heck there are differences within Spain so I tried to keep these 10 Things You Should Never Do In Spain and the Don'ts of Spain specific. What not to do in Barcelona would be a completely different video from what not to do in Madrid or what not to do in Valencia Spain. But the things in this video should apply and help you know how to be polite in Spain while visiting Spain.

This living in Spain vlog applies to and covers tourism Spain, life in Spain vs USA, life in Spain, living in Spain short term and long term, living in Spain vs USA, ,expat living in Spain, Spain revealed, Spain travel guide, Spain culture shocks and Spain rules.

Without further ado lets jump in to the 10 Things You Should Never Do in Spain and Don'ts of Spain!

In spain it’s actually really common to eat 5 times during the day, we normally have lunch around 2-3 pm and have dinner at around 9 or 10 pm but we usually have a meal in between at 5 or 6 pm, it’s called merienda, and most people have a coffee with something sweet. And before lunch a lot of people have a sandwich or some other snack at 11 am or so. If we only ate those 3 times every day we would die from hunger 😅. Also, i’m spanish and i always eat paella with a fork

Fab list 😍 I would also say don’t walk into a bank or shop and expect to find a queue. Often times you’ll enter and ask ‘quien es el ultimo?’ (who is the last person in line essentially) then who can stand around or sit wherever you wish until it’s your turn 😃

I'm Spanish and we eat paella with a fork, maybe it's just a thing in Valencia. I agree with some of the things you said but customers respect their schedule and don't open and close whenever they want to.

I live in Valencia, not the capital but the province, only tourist restaurants open at 20.30 for dinner, in my area you will not get anything before 22.00, so make sure you have a good lunch. Always use a restaurant /bar where there are locals, usually noisier, food is better and cheaper - side streets not the main tourist areas. Most bars/cafes have tapas all day if you are desperate, in small villages you need to ask as many don't have menus or the food on display, they will then tell what they have that day. Small tips are appreciated especially for small family run businesses, i.e. the price of a drink. Staff in Spain are paid and do not rely on tips but it is always a nice gesture. Good luck, enjoy. ps never seen any dog poop in the streets, but some city areas have special small areas for dogs as many Spanish live in flats, no notices, where they is plenty of poop so beware.

Hi Kevin - I spent a month in Spain on the Costa Blanca. All the Don'ts you mentioned I found true. Except watching were you walk. We were in many cities including Valencia. Yes, when we had Paella in Valencia, they only gave us spoons. All the other times in other cities we were given forks. Sundays must be a coastal thing. Everything closed until about 6pm or 7pm and a few things would open up. I loved Spain. The people, the culture and the FOOD! (Jamón)

Not sure about Valencia, but here in Madrid you can walk on the street without watching your step, no dog poop. That used to be a problem 20 years ago but now dog owners take care. Maybe you have been unlucky in Valencia, the occasions I’ve been there I haven’t observed that.

The Paella tip and times are so true. And as an American with kids, it's brilliant. We can keep the kids closer to our normal timezone by keeping a later than normal schedule. Since they're 7 hours ahead of us, eating dinner 3 or 4 hours later than you do normally lets the perceived time change really be only 3 hours or so. And that is HUGE for kids who are on a standard bedtime habit.

I'm from Spain, and I've never considered eating paella for diner, It's so unnatural.

You use an spoon if you it directly from the paella, if you eat it on a plate you can use a fork. The spoon is to scratch el socarrat on the paella which is the best

You will find that a lot of Europe u just give a tip whatever u want. Its not put onto the bill, but u should give one .And you wait for your food because its cooked fresh so cooked when ordered . In less u go to fast food or places that are aimed at tourists.

I literally eat dinner at 4-5 pm and when I used to eat lunch it was 11am-12 pm. Breakfast is obviously 7-8 am. I am not altering normal eating times if I go touring some foreign country. They can bring me dinner at 4pm like normal. I have no desire to eat dinner at bed time 8pm-12 am. As that is the night when you should shower and get ready for bed. It’s absurd to eat at 8 pm

- Eat paella whenever you want
- Pizza being the most common dinner in Spain: AM I A JOKE TO YOU???
- What? 2 hours in a restaurant? xddd Why? I understand a bar, because you're drinking regularly and talking, but in a restaurant? Waiters are gonna come to ask you to fuck off lol
- 5-10% of tiping? Lol tiping here is like... "I have a lot of these stupid 2 cents coins, it's the perfect time to throw them away!"
- A lot of stores are opened on Sunday in the city center, and there're 24h supermarkets that are opened, and most restaurants are opened since they close on monday xd
- Buses have to accept 20€ if they have enough exchange, unless it's like 21:00h or so, then only accept fixed amount
- Oh, coronavirus time, yeah we do use credit cards now for everything, but by the time this video was filmed, you could not pay something below 10€ with a credit card in most places lol
- Those oranges are for jam
- Eat paella with whatever you want lol

Another thing you should always do while you are eating is to put your arms on top of the table, you can take them off after you are done eating, never put the elbow. Ask me for more!
