Then they get angry when they do put the mask back on and no one falls for the manipulation.

If you have kids. Be the peaceful parent and their safe place. Don't do drama. Especially about the narc because they actually don't want to think about them it stresses them out. Just listen and love. ❤

Yep. Mine is imploding. He now looks like an organ grinder's monkey, so skinny from drug use and his thin gray hair sticking straight up. Even his face looks like a skull with skin stretched over it. Makes it so easy to finally get over my love for him! Thank you God for answering my prayers!

That was certainly true of my abusive narc mother. Compounding the situation was the fact that she was a fairly successful poet and surrounded herself with academics and intellectuals. Nobody particularly liked her but her writing skills were admired. She now has dementia and is in a care home and still tells people that she is guest speaker at a poetry reading and the hotel she is being put up in isn't quite to the standard she'd expect. I took on Lasting Power of attorney for her finances and realised she'd spent every last penny on herself - no Will, not even enough for a funeral. She should, by rights have been put into a state run nursing home but I worked really hard and managed to secure extra funds for a private nursing home. When I explained the good news she asked if this was because of all the people's lives she'd improved through her writing!

Absolutely, Jill. Sometimes they are more roughshod on individual people whom they are trying to control. At the same time they pull back from larger social interactions because they can't control themselves in such a setting.

True in my experience. I think I was the reason people tolerated him. When I stopped caring to fix things, the only people left were a few bitter and manipulative flying monkeys. They knew what he was but it was all my fault of course. Lots of fun.
