The Devil Hunter Club kids were a lot more effective than I expected. They took Yuko’s arms off with relative ease.

I was glad they skipped the muscle devil. It allows more time for Denji to grow to trust and appreciate Makima BEFORE she reiterates the obey or die mindset so that now shes spent more of her time being nice to him before she reminds him of the stick instead of the carrot.

Gotta say, this chapter made me very excited to see all the potential creative uses of Yoru’s power throughout part 2

See i think with this start to part 2 what Fujimoto is commenting on is how evil is bred at a young age through resentment and cruelty. It doesn’t just materialize for no reason. What ties into my theory is how asa and yoru have slowly started to seem like they understand each other and yoru has been growing generally less harsh to asa and even choosing to rely on her at the end of the chapter. Coupled with pochitas confession of his dream and his sharing of makamis dream and how it got corrupted and corrupted her is that devils dont have to be evil, the world makes them evil.

makima and her symbolism of motherhood is so well done in csm. her chains come from her womb and she even puts her hand over it. shes a motherly figure to denji bc she provides his needs. her ability to control and conquer might also be a reference to motherly authority as well. i think her defeat at his hands with the chainsaw could also be a reference to how chainsaws were invented for cesarean sections, further cementing the symbolism of motherhood.

Im super glad you mentioned people just labeling Denji as a "pervert". I got into an annoying discussion with people who did just that and anytime I tried to convey that hes a deeply sad character with sad and relatable goals they would just say "that's a lot of words to describe a pervert" they couldn't understand that a teenager who is touch starved wants to date girls.

Asa/Yoru collecting devil weapons throughout the story like she's Dante sounds super sick, that would be a great buildup to her powers, I hope that happens now.

Aside from that, great chapter and great episode. We are eating extremely well rn

Removing the muscle devil scene was a W. Absolutely works for the adaptation.

I remember when some one theorized Aki would come back as the gun devil doing the school "attack"

Responding to around 18:35 As someone who is still growing up in this 'school attack' culture in the US, I can confidently say that people like me saw this coming. To me, this did not come as a surprise. Especially because the big bad evil in Part 1 was the gun devil, I thought it would be obvious how the dark theming would not slow down in Part 2.

I am loving Fujimoto's story telling. And I hope you get better

I think people might get an ending they don't like for part 2. I don't see Denji not being the main focus of the story, as even though we are watching events unfold from her prespective, the focal point is still chainsaw man. I like this story telling method a lot, especially because readers will become attached to another character, but if she dies I urge you to remember we could've seen the world from Rize's prespective instead, and Denji would still have killed her. His decisions don't change based on prespective, but how we feel towards other characters does

Fujimoto kind of announced the focus on real life school issues in the first chapter of part 2. The class pres was literally groomed my her teacher. Might have been an early sign. While the pres wanted to be on in this relationship it's still fucked up to do this as a teacher

Let’s not forget Yuko feels like she owes her life to Asa who saved her from the Bat Devil (well it was CSM who saved both but she still gave everything to save her), considering Asa was quite the loner it makes sense to well, not have many characters thrown at once to us compared to part 1. As for Yoru I’m just loving every moment she appears, she would threaten Asa a lot yet never really did anything, heck even told Asa if she should deal with her bully problems. We now know she has a great fear of being forgotten though I mean that’s also related to her own existence so self preservation is something all living beings share, Yoru acts very childish as when she got called stupid she lost it and ignored the other stuff in their conversation only because of it, getting buttered up by Asa by telling her that she’s the smart one so she should make plans to get CSM’s attention, and how Yoru was all like “oh I won’t let you control the body til I deal with Yuko”, yet here we are having Yoru give Asa control so she can deal with it anyway. I would say that I’m enjoying the lot of attention to Asa and Yoru so far, establishing them as characters and their relationship moving forward. I also am curious about the guys from the Devil Hunter Club since they looked badass and cool. I think that either Asa might do what you said though that’s not in character for her to go and kill her friend just like that, or Asa putting herself in the danger of death thus making the whole thing pointless for Yuko or putting her into the bullies’ shoes again this making Yuko the “bad guy”.

it seems like the schedule for Chainsaw Man has switched to weekly to match the anime while it's airing, which I am totally here for

I like that they did remove the muscle devil scene from the anime. I feel as though they wanted the order of things to flow better while keeping the tone. Also i think if they had decided to keep the scene, the episode wouldn't end with power smushing the sea cucumber devil and instead was on just her opening the door which kinda lessens the impact power has in her introduction. That maniacal laugh at killing something so vastly weaker than her is power's character on full display and i think it's a really neat scene to end on for the episode.

Idk if it was just me but as soon as I saw a character who has multiple personalities and someone who can read minds I immediately thought of Yugioh lmao. In the fight between Yugi and pegasus, he constantly switches to dilute pegasus' mind-reading abilities so I kinda figured something similar could happen. Also, I'm really excited to see Yoru's weapon ability develop. Her whole ability kinda reminds me of the power system in chainsaw man where a devil's power is determined by how much they're feared, kinda like how the closer Asa is with someone the more powerful the weapon.

If yuko reads Asa's mind and sees that she is a bully to Asa then maybe it's possible that her sense of justice gets broken and she loses her devil form

I would be nice to see the muscle devil as it was a nice moment to see denji find someone with a cute devil pet like denji did with pochita. It also added to the emotional part of losing pochita
