Denjis views on love and intimacy mature through the series and it explores platonic, maternal, and sexual kinds and the fact that it's missed is beyond me

When they were showering together Denji said "It's so wierd, it doesn't feel naughty", Makima also said something along the lines of "Aki made a nice older brother for you, and Power was like the troublesome little sister"

I always felt that that one line/moment he had with her in the manga was meant to imply that she was one of the first people to teach him that affection and closeness doesn’t need to be sexual to make you feel loved

it's actually nice to see a non-romantic kind of love portrayed so well; Denji and Power definitely had that. the sibling-like best friend you can count on when you need them the most has to be one of the purest forms of love ever.

Personally, I don't see their relationship as siblings or romantic, but something else entirely. Neither of them has any sort of social cues or understanding, so their relationship can't really be easily categorized as exclusively one or the other.

Some people just can’t tell the difference between a good relationship between two buddies and straight up sexually motivated relationships for example: The entire Mha fandom

I saw a video from "Beyond Animation" that talks about Denji's and Powers relationship. I think it was pretty interesting to try and see it from a different perspective than "they are just siblings"
I personally am not sure what kind of relationship they have, but I wouldn't call it a sibling relationship or a romantic one. I think it's more nuanced than that.

To me their relationship isn't sibling-like, but it also isn't romantic. I see Denji and Power as having an intimate relationship but having not gone past that, they're just two people extremely comfortable with each other.

That said though, there are also clear clues throughout the manga that points to Power potentially being a love interest, like at the end of the Reze arc after Makima gets to her while Denji was waiting. When Reze doesn't show up, something along the lines of Denji true love will eventually come and then Power shows up at the shop. It could go both ways, you cant just ignore storytelling like that to fit your own theories.

ALSO, you guys should really look at Fujimoto if you think being siblings would stop romance from occurring in his stories. Take a look at Fire Punch, his other manga before Chainsaw man, and you'll see some similarities.

I recently watched someone video and he was saying that denji and power sibling/family relationship are from makima and aki perspective.

Denji and Power is a canon ship.

Reze x Denji is 100x times better tho.

it’s difficult to tell bc also Denji doesn’t have clear the difference between romantic and platonic relationship, he feels sexual attraction towards her but wouldn’t see her as a partner just because she’s often mean or unpredictable

the thing is, i still disagree that power and denji act like siblings. we get numerous hints that fujimoto was heading towards this direction. example: when denji waited for the right girl to take his flowers, he expect reze, but instead got power. when he wanted to have a girl in his house, play games and cuddle with them, he ends up doing that with power.


the only reason why we get a sibling shot of power and denji is because that cover art was in the point of view of Aki hayakawa. don't believe me?

in chapter 79 (the chapter we see the sibiling family photo of them), the entire chapter is in the point of view of not denji, not power, but Aki. we are seeing aki fight denji through his eyes, we see aki play snowball fighting with denji through his eyes. we get dialogue from denji yes, but it was never in monologue. denji was speaking through dialogue the entire time, we only saw what was in aki's head.


my point is that power and denji are more than siblings, and maybe more than lovers. their relationship is just too complicate it through a sibling lens or lover lens.

Whilst their dynamic is similar to that of siblings, it’s also like that of lovers, at least to some extent. This may stem from a lack of understanding as to the romantic connotations some of her actions carry, like u said, or legitimate romantic feelings. Hard to say, comes down to interpretation.

I wish people would stop using that panel with all 3 of them as kids and others in that vol as a fact in debates bc it’s been confirmed that vol is aki POV I still agree they bonded like siblings and have that love for it but I feel like majority of people just look at an image and be like yep when fujimoto shows in many of his manga how he build us relationships he doesn’t do instant love at first sight he’s the most realistic build up and softly hints it and that it’s not the first person you see as your partner and sometimes the least expected you probably bond the most with it’s not lust but companionship denji found when he matured and started to understand better I love how he grown as a young man
