Chainsaw man was super expensive for mappa because they funded the anime instead of a production comity so if they were to do it mappa would have to have just gotten a payout for a big project so I suspect it will probably get confirmation after they finish the final part of AOT which is by far one of there biggest projects

To be fair, hell’s paradise can be finished in another 24 episodes. The 1st season covered around 1/2 of the manga

If it gets a season 2, it would be way more than a year or 2 before it comes out due to it being a MAPPA passion project which they themselves fund and put their own schedule instead of a production committee

chainsaw man is also mostly rotoscoped so they need time to get actors to act out the scenes then trace over the recordings. that big extra step may be why it's taking a while for the next season
