Hi everyone! I hope you all have been staying safe. It's been a while, but I'm finally back to finish up my grad school Q&A series :-)

Background: I went to UC Irvine for undergrad and Harvard Graduate School of Education for grad school/my master's degree (see comment section for difference between grad school and undergrad)! I was in the Teacher Education Program (TEP) - History cohort.

Timestamps:
0:13-2:02 Updates on where I've been
2:03-2:32 Do you plan on coming back to LA or will you establish yourself in Massachusetts?
2:33-3:14 What will you do with all your furniture and appliances when you come back?
3:15-4:09 What are your opinions on the length of your program? Congrats again btw hehe
4:10-5:56 What do you do when you felt discouraged while in the grad program?
5:57-7:05 What would you tell yourself if you could talk to June 1, 2019 Katrina?
7:06-13:20 What were some of the most difficult roadblocks you’ve encountered?
(7:52 Transferring Massachusetts License to California License aka spontaneous tears)
13:21-13:51 What is a special memory you have while living in Boston?
13:52-15:00 Best & worst advice received about navigating the education job market during this time.
15:01-16:34 Is it possible to teach history without being demoralizing? In particular ethnic history.
16:35-18:33 What is one thing you learned that you didn’t expect to?
18:34-20:00 Was grad school worth the financial investment? If you had to, would you do it all over again?

Thank you so so much to everyone who asked a question, watched the video, and supported me along my journey! It means so much and I appreciate y'all! Please stay safe and take care :)

xx,
Katrina

Tests are stressful, but you can rock it you have accomplished so much and grown so much as a teacher and a person. Keep using your voice, and being your authentic self. Well done Katrina!! Can't wait to see what the future has in store for you!

PLEASE READ: I went to Harvard for graduate school/my master’s degree :-)

For those of you who aren’t familiar, “In the United States, undergraduate study refers to the time students spend earning a degree after completing a high school education. Graduate study in the U.S. refers to the time students spend pursuing another, higher degree after completing a bachelor's degree.”

I graduated high school in 2013 and went to UC Irvine for undergrad from 2013-2017. I went to Harvard Graduate School of Education for my masters degree + teaching credential. The application requirements for grad school are completely different than for undergrad, so I cannot speak to anything about Harvard College (the undergraduate campus at Harvard) or any other grad program at Harvard 😄 Hope y’all understand!!

“What’s the difference between Harvard College and Harvard University?”

Also, did you catch the lipstick on my tooth LOL 😭

Awwww Katrina!!! Wow this explains so much of your pain!! Yeah to do so many tests just cause to teach is ridiculous. Also it’s like underpaid and overworked too! But I knew you are the best teacher and once you get there, you will be great. And for now, it’s safer to stay home too. So don’t feel too bad for the testing. You got this!

Hey Katrina I’m going to grad school at Harvard this Fall - I love your video and wanted to do a VLog as well about my journey from acceptance to graduation. Please let me know if you have sometime to talk about how I can go about doing a vlog like you did! Love your posts and congrats again on a lifetime achievement!

Congratulations ❤️ I chose the option of deferring TEP for fall 2021☹️ I feel you on the standardized testing I hate them! But all of this will be worth it.

I'm not positive I will have my own car in grad school. I was wondering how Harvard handled teaching placements/ if they placed students far from the Harvard campus?

Katrina, hello. I have a question, what is supporting you when you want to give up, Keep moving? You are really excellent, low-key yet gorgeous, generous yet elegant. You are the kind of person I want to be. Come on together!
