Chris, let me take a moment to let you know how amazing you are. The world is better because you’re in it. Your family is beautiful and wonderful and I’m so glad I found you all ❤

My most precious moment with my father as a child before he passed was on Splash Mountain, so sad to see it go. Hands down my most favorite ride. I truly hope they keep it up running so everyone here commenting gets a chance to ride it one last time. Thanks for sharing your wisdom on this Chris, and have a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day!😂

I wonder if they’ll wait for after summer since it’s such a hot attraction for when it’s hot. Let’s say September 6th, Wednesday after Labor Day

I came up with the name Tiana's Bayou Adventure months before it was announced (made the suggestion on Ordinary Adventures). But I like Mardi Gras Mountain too!

Makes sense to keep it open until April but I think they may keep it open until September 1st-ish. Keep it open for summer and close it as Haunted Mansion Nightmare overlay re-opens

I get all of your points, and they make sense. But I think it would make more sense for them to leave it for most of the year for Disney 100. I also think it would make more sense for them to close it in the fall so they have all of the winter months to change it when it won't be missed as much.

My theory is that Disney is going to test Tianas Bayou Adventure in Florida and will gauge the reaction there and then decide whether or not to close it at Disneyland.

Correction Chris. Tokyo Disney resort is 100% owned by the Oriental Land Company, which licenses intellectual property from The Walt Disney Company. Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are the only Disney parks in the world not owned or operated by The Walt Disney Company in any capacity.

I'm sad because I had only gone on it once in my childhood with my mom (it was her favorite and she passed in 2018) and not again until a month ago at 33 with my husband because I was so terrified of it until now. And I just realized how much I love it and the theme and the characters. Already memorized all the songs and now it's going away : (

We saw a similar thing with the construction of Runaway Railway. They built WDW's version first and Disney's second. It allowed them to use many of the same people in building the ride as well as learning about problems on the first ride before working on the second, unlike when they worked on Galaxy's Edge and discovered a problem with one ride while building it.

I think your reasoning is pretty good. I would add another possible factor: staffing. They need a certain number of workers to actually carry out the rehab. This is why I've always felt it would wait until the Toontown re-do is completed; so they can move those workers on to the new project. Another possible factors is that, once they announce the closing date, they are likely to get a rush of people wanting to ride the current version one last time, particularly on the very last day of operation; they probably wouldn't want that to conflict with any other high-draw events. like the Toontown re-opening or the first say of the Magic Happens parade. They might want to look for a weekend when predicted attendance is relatively low. I don't think they will want to wait until after the summer, either; as that would just leave too long a gap between the opening of the WDW version of Tiana's Bayou Adventure and the Disneyland version, but I could be wrong there. A friend as suggested waiting till after summer makes more sense; if the re-theme is going to take 18 months, if they close the ride in the spring, that means it will be down for two successive summers, and they wouldn't want that. (Since WDW's version close in January, we might anticipate its re-opening sometime around July of 2024; if ours closes in April or May, then it probably wouldn't re-open till the autumn of 2024.) He could be right.

So I have no official guess, except to say that I'd be surprised now if it closes any earlier than late March.

So excited to be here— especially so early!!!
You all inspired me to take my Abuela to D-land for her 85th with the whole family! I was sharing fun secrets the whole time and knew EXACTLY how to make it special!

I'm thinking more of a fall shutdown for a few reasons.#1 Capacity. #2 either wait for WDW re-opening to see If there needs to be adjustments due to guests reactions. You wouldn't want 2 of the same versions, If there was something "off" to correct both. #3 a bonus. I think this will be a good year for Disney, as a lot of delayed major expansion will be done. There is also Epcot getting new things. Chris, Is Amanda better? I missed the live stream (I worked that night)

I think keeping Splash Mountain open for the summer would be smart since people would not be so likely to ride it in the cooler months. I do have a question for you. I've seen concept art for changing the French Market restaurant to Tiana's Palace. In my opinion, it is ugly and an eyesore as it does not fit with the rest of the surrounding architecture and would take away from the wonderful atmosphere the area already has. I also see it as continued pandering to one particular group of people. It is also a good distance away from what is supposed to be Tiana's Bayou adventure. They already have a shop dedicated primarily to this not so very popular Disney character. What is your take on so much of the park being given to this one IP and none of the other characters have been given this much attention in the park?

Can’t wait to watch your Tokyo content, have so much fun!! My guess is that Splash Mountain will close Sept 3rd. PS. I love your “Mardi Gras Mountain”’idea 😊

Thanks for talking about this! There's no info on the internet about this because everyone talks just about WDW instead.
I think you are right about the closure. I wish I had a chance to ride it again this year, but don't think we'll be there in time.
Splash Mountain RIP 😭

I think you are absolutely correct! April is a super logical time for the closure. One thing you didn’t mention, but I think is a big factor, is Spring Break. Spring break spreads from Mid March to Mid April, depending on the school. So I think April 15th is a great guess. But I am going to guess April 30th. 😊
