"We chose Fire and Leaf to symbolize peace"

Yes, because fire and leaves get along real well...

"The E-Reader wasn't popular outside of Japan"

**Picks up the E-Reader off my desk and sheds a single tear**

I never thought I'd hear "Mr. Mime" and "Yakuza" in the same sentence.

I’d love to hear Masada explain how the relationship between Fire and Leaf represents “peace”. That is one of the most devastating natural combinations.

It's a damn shame that Nintendo laid Nob off, he put so much work in for them. Every time we talked to someone in an older Pokemon game it was he who translated for us and gave us great dialogue. Thank you mister Nob Ogasawara for your hard work

0:39 "Tyrantar fights an active volcano" makes it sound more awesome than it really is.

FireRed is up there as one of my favorite games of all time tbh

The Pokédex system in this game was underrated, I thought it was the most badass shit seeing what each environment Pokémon lived in as a kid

I’m sorry there’s a “tyranitar vs a volcano” mini game in fire red??? 😂

It's a shame that this wasn't a thing but imagine the unseen or hidden content or leftover or scrapped data on these cards.

Man I remember how much I hated the days of carrying the wire just to battle with friends.

I miss when pokemon was about going around a fairly normal region and encountering down to earth people dealing with real problems. Its become really larger than life in the past games with all the world altering super hyper giga legendary gods like i just want to give a nice cold drink to the nice checkpoint worker and foil team rockets plans to take over a single building

Thanks for the shoutout, but I laughed like a hyena when I saw my manly joke FaceApped portrait.
I'm way more of a roundhead with a weak chin.

As a kid my fire red cartridge was corrupted so that I wasn’t able to play the postgame and visit the majority of the sevii island so every time I see footage of them it feels like this new and mysterious location that I’ve never seen before, it’s so interesting

I think Masuda made the right call with Leaf Green. Normally I always go for the Red-ish hued versions, but since I had already played the original Red, and Green was the fabled version that the West never got, I thought Leaf Green was super cool and had to have it.

Detective Pikachu: Why yes, the Mr.Mime scene was a Yakuza reference.

Even if they are overshadowed by HeartGold and SoulSilver sometimes, I believe that FireRed and LeafGreen might be some of the most important games in the series. For example, they allowed you to get Pokémon that were previously unobtainable in Ruby and Sapphire due to technical limitations, and they were the first Pokémon games to support some kind of wireless feature, something which would later became the series standard in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

No wonder they got the Player's Choice award.

Guess everyone in the Simpsons is part of the Yakuza now
