This makes mundane daily activities like brushing teeth and doing laundry into epic shots.

I'd definitely need this slider! Thanks for sharing tips on how to film one's self, Jussi! It's a big help for lone creators like me 😁

This device is awesome, especially with the remote (I ordered both from the crown funding initiative).
There is ony one major CAVEAT which I was not really clear about upfront (I should have known as an engineer):

The propulsion of the pod elements to extend or contract happens with some kind of screw drive. This means that there is some torque force (in addition to the lateral force for extracting / contracting the pod) when conducting the movements. Even with the bearings of the device being very well crafted, there is some very little residual rotation play between the single segments.
Depending on the camera weight, the angle and speed of the lateral camera movement selected, the weight distribution of the camera and the lens, and some more parameters, some rotational swinging can build up. This little swinging can become visible in the footage.

Is this a killer for the SlypodPro ? Definetly not. Even very expensive sliders from renown brands produce incredible jitter when mooving.

There are few workarounds that work well, even with my S1H plus Sirui Anamorphic lens (a heavy combo, but still below max horizontal payload) on the SlypodPro:

1) Use Soft Start
2) Reduce the speed - slwer speeds tend to look better in the footage anyway
3) Reduce the payload of the camera - especially when doing horizontal moves
4) do some in-post stabilization - this will completely wipe out any residual movements visible.

Another great type of movement can be achieved this way:

1) Mount your (light weight) camera on a gimbal
2) Mount the gimbal on the Slypod
3) Mount the Slypod on a good fluid head on top of a sturdy tripod - you may need some counterweight (a water bottle in a bag works perfect)
4) Mount the Slypod remote to the lower part of the Slypod within your hands reach

==> this gives you a small crane, allowing awesome movements

I wish companies would make a dedicated remote, because it's difficult when every Bluetooth or Wi-Fi light and camera and now slider each have their own app

One thing I like about the aputure lights is that they come with a dedicated remote

I'm not against having phone controls but I'm not a fan of only having phone controls

I saw several of your videos a couple of years ago and they were interesting but I was not ready to embrace the possibilities of what you are sharing/teaching. I'm now ready and preparing to launch a new channel...so glad I found your channel again. Peace. Subbed.

This is phenomenal! Great product review and very helpful. I also loved how you didn't edit out the hard stop at the end of every shot, showing how the Slypod Pro doesn't give you a smooth ending. Very important based on the setup you are trying to accomplish. Big con if you want to use the shot AFTER it has finished sliding. Still, great product and thank you for reviewing it.

You have not only good skills for camera use but also good talking and acting skills (the way you did eye movement in the beginning of this video)

Your scenes and dialog are top shelf. A few unanswered questions though:
The attachment to the camera and the monopod is not included, correct? What is it and how much?
How is the monopod attached to the tripod and is that piece included or must be purchased?
What tripod do you recommend with this setup?
It would be great if you hand recorded the motor noise.
I subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your work, thanks!
