You were actually a huge inspiration that kind of confirmed that I could shoot a full length feature film, all by myself, and be the only actor in the film, which I went ahead and did, during the pandemic, on my phone. It became an award winning film. And so, thank you. 🙏😉

I love how your videos still feel like a movie even when you're teaching us about filming. You're just on another level!

BRO THIS IS PURE GOLD! 🙌 I’m sure there are many takeouts from this but your storytelling is always a treat! Thx for the inspiration 🔥

You're a beast. Filming by yourself is frustrating. It's inspiring to see you laughing and having fun with it.

This helps so much as a solo backpacker/filmmaker! The thought process can be carried to any genre. Instant sub.

Another great video. I personally like the idea of building an audience that doesn’t expect an elaborately produced effort every time I upload. That being said, i want to have the occasional surprise to let them know I can. And its so fulfilling to create awesome content. Its just a lot of work committing to it when I am always alone. Im realizing its a must if I want a certain level of success here. So Thank you.

I loved your video. I agree 100% with your final thoughts: filming by yourself can be very frustrating and time-consuming, you're gonna miss focus and mess up the frame and composition but you learn a lot by doing any single aspect of making a video. I just started and I am a noob but I know that trial and error is the best way to improve. And that's what I love about it :)

One of your best videos, the way you back up the tips with your visual storytelling is chefs kiss. I also think you have some of the best composition I've seen on Youtube

These visuals are so underrated. So lovely - especially some of those wide low shots. Amazing!

It took me five years to make my no-budget debut feature film, and that was with using non-actors in front of the camera. How you're helping others achieve making their films with just themselves in front of the camera – I take my hat off to you. Well done!

Step 6 - ask your elementary school teacher if you can get a class fog machine.

You crushed it man!! So stoked on this!!

Heres my tip. Give your footage extra time. If you are filming a standard tripod shot of an object just hold the shot a little longer than you think you need.

Nothing is more annyoing then when you are editing and your shot needed to just be a few more seconds longer and then it ends....

On the flipside dont be stagnant on your angles.

So to sum it up. Film lots of angles but hold the shot a little longer than you think. Once you get it move to the next!

Filming by yourself is super hard. But still easier than having friends after 30

Every video is like a little movie and I am always looking forward to. Your storytelling is just on another level.

I just want to let you know that you're not alone. I am doing the same thing my friend. I try. That's all I can do. I wish you nothing but luck, prosperity and success moving forward my friend. We are ultimately all in this together. Just keep your head up and keep moving forward. We're not alone.

I'm a newer creator and have definitely felt kinda foolish trying to film myself. At least I'm usually alone in the woods so people aren't watching me 😅 but these are some amazing tips and thank you for making this video!

These are always fun for me to watch. I feel like you are one of the best at this Jake. I've been struggling lately in the very very early phases of shooting my own YouTube content, and filming solo as both the "talent" on-camera and the operator is quite a challenge, especially when you want to make it interesting. Something else that I think not a lot of people talk about is that it's kinda hard to get together with people to film if you are in certain phases of your life.

For me I'm 33 with a full-time job, a business that my wife and I also operate, and a 4 year old son. Most of the people I know and call friends are either 500 miles away or living a similarly hectic life that make shooting together basically impossible. These tips and just watching your content helps remind me that it is possible to do it by yourself and do it really well. It just takes patience and creativity as you mention. Thanks for sharing man.
