The plant did not give up on you because you did not give up on it.

The same thing happened to my overwintered plant. I thought it was dead but it came back to life once the spring arrived. This is my third year with the plant. It is so cool they keep going year after year.

My seven year old pepper plant has finally withered due to aphids. Cold weather hit and the same kind d of regrowth but aphids completely sucked the life out of it. Seven years out of one pepper plant and it was surprisingly sad to see it finally go after so many years and so many stuffed peppers it provided

I guess when the branches die the roots could still be alive. That is pretty interesting.

I have too many plants to reasonably overwinter them. So every January I start a new batch of 300+ pepper plants. Cant wait until my greenhouse is up and going should be able to overwinter everything.

do you think it's still the same plant or could it have been a fallen seed that germinated and sprouted a new plant?
