Overwintering your pepper plants can save you a lot of time next season. Pepper plants take about two months to establish themselves, so you are basically skipping this step when you over winter your pepper plants.
I live in Houston, Texas and time is critical because the heat can be too much for my plants. Overwintering my plants allow me to have a longer growing season. These plants should bounce back fast once spring comes and doing this will help my plants produce peppers much faster than if I started all over with seedlings.
It’s also a good idea to spray your indoor pepper plants with neem oil since there will be no natural predators to kill any potential pests that might be left on the pepper plant.
The goal is to just keep the pepper plants alive and these plants don’t need leaves. If you use this method to overwinter your pepper plants they will be dormant until it warms back up outside. Theses still a lot of life in the pepper’s root system.
