In this video I go through the step by step process of diagnosing and fixing an engine management light warning fault on a Isuzu VCDI 3.0 Diesel 4JJ1 engine. This was on a Holden Rodeo RA but this engine is found in many other vehicles like a Nissan Navara & Pathfinder, Isuzu D-Max MU-X Duramax, Holden Colorado RC

This repair was done earlier in the year and has solved the customers running issues.
Part numbers for the SCV are VSC100GEN / A6860EC09A (Nissan Genuine Part Number)
As always, thanks for watching

I have a Fiat 1.3 that trips the low fuel pressure flag when I put the accelerator down. The rail pressure just drops then pings straight back. The pump can’t react that fast. Your video has given me the confidence to pull my valve which is on the pressure side and take a look.

Great work Gerard! This is probably the most informative video on this problem that I've come across. I experienced a SCV failure back in 2016 and after shelling out $800 for the local specialist Diesel mechanic to fix it, I thought I'd have a crack at it myself this time. Mine failed again a couple of weeks ago and threw the same codes. $50 for a replacement SCV off ebay but I wouldn't exactly say they are easy to replace. Access is a nightmare (particularly the lower bolt) and if you accidentally drop a bolt or your Allen key it finds its way into the notch of the engine mount bracket and is completely unreachable (trust me! Don't let anything fall). I have exact same car (07 4JJ1) and this seems to be its only real weakness. Just clicked over 300, 000.

Thanks for your clear description of what is going on in this situation. My Captiva has a low pressure fault and I was told that the HP fuel pump needed to be replaced. I've stripped and inspected it and found nothing wrong with the pump. The valve operates electrically, but I'll see if I can get into it to inspect it for wear. I've been told by another service business that there may be a seized injector that could be causing the low pressure issue, so have to investigate that as well.

Awesome job! I've research a ton on these valves and issues relating to low fuel rail pressure errors and no one explains HOW these valves can actually produce such errors. It's just as I suspected- mechanically hanging up.

I had the same symptoms and rough idle occassionally on my GM 1.7cdti. Mine did not have scoring but it was dirty inside and when i cleaned and put it back the rough idle went away and the low pressure issued rectified. I have ordered a new part and will replace it when the weather warms up. I was wondering about it needing calibrating to the engine, so i recommend keeping the old part until the car is in good working order and you are satisfied. Thanks for the great video

Interesting. I would imagine that most shops wouldn't go to this detail because of the labor cost.

hello, after watching your video i haev a question about my car, i have a passat CFFB 2.0 TDI, recentely i start to monitor my car data by vcds, i see that my diesl pressure fluctuating from 26301 KPA to 31801 Kpa, thats too much but car work fine, i test a freind car and i found that the pressure is almost stable '( from 29929 KPA to 28929), what should i do please ? any idea? should i replace or clean the RAIL FUEL PRESSURE SOLENOID VALVE or the one located on the HP pump (fuel pump pressor sensor or named suction control valve) wich one is responsible of this fluctuating ? thank you
