when threading the needle, the thread needs to go FROM inside to outside, otherwise the machine will just punch through the cloth making holes and not sewing it.

I have an identical Singer-branded model in lovely 70's brown and wondered how a simple machine does the rear stitch without a 2nd bobbin like on my full-size Toyota machine. Your video shows this clearly and why it is so critical to tie off the last stich carefully to avoid unravelling, not least the little tip to use the threader for this.
