How to be a GREAT programmer

In this video I want to go over what I think is a helpful mindset for becoming a software engineer. This is something that you should keep in mind along your journey to becoming a software developer. I personally think becoming a software developer is a really hard undertaking, but to be honest, it just takes practice and repetition, much like a professional sports player :)

It took me just over 2 years to get my first software engineer role. Started as a service desk engineer and took every opportunity I could to learn more / swapped jobs once I thought I couldn't learn anything beneficial... Now I'm 11 month into my first software engineer role! It's hard and a lot of learning but worth it in the end.

This is fantastic advice and it's what I attribute to getting my first developer role. My background is in music so I approached programming much like how I would learning a new instrument. Hours of diligent and meaningful practice and by making a lot of mistakes (aka gaining experience haha)

Though professional != great developer. To be a professional, you merely need to go through the basic requirements and started getting paid for software development.
