While the final season of Star Trek: Picard featured the return of several friendly faces, and some not-so-friendly faces, there was one person who was notably absent from the long-awaited The Next Generation reunion. Season 3 of Picard centers around the revelation that Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) share a son, Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), and his role in a mystery that traces back to Picard's most legendary foes — The Borg.

The finale episode features a guest appearance from John de Lancie's Q, in a post-credits scene that tells fans that Jack Crusher's adventures in Starfleet are just beginning. With this last special cameo from a being who can travel easily throughout space and time, audiences couldn't help but wonder, has Wesley Crusher ever met his brother? Actor Wil Wheaton, who played Wesley in Next Gen and now hosts the Star Trek aftershow The Ready Room, took to Facebook to weigh in and give his explanation as to why we've never seen Wesley come back to visit his mother.

Didn't Wesley show up in Nemesis, which was after he left to become a Traveler?

That's a cop-out answer. Just make it happen, Wil!

Perhaps they could make a Star Trek series around Wesley the Traveler?

I can see the reasoning behind that, but Weasley should return anyways. He could appear to jack only in the series (if it gets the green light) and jack could communicate this to his mother Beverly of the encounter. There would have to be a good reason for Weasley to come and see jack for storyline purposes, most most definitely he can do it.

If Wes became a traveler, how is it that he appears on Star Trek Nemesis at Riker’s and Troi’s wedding and taking assignment as an officer aboard the Titan under Riker’s command?

I didn't expect Wesley to show up and save the day because of those rules.
But in the one year gap between the end of the crisis and the end of the show, he couldn't take two weeks off and visit his mom? His MOM?
Wesley, go see your mom. She misses you. You can also go see the father figure in your life and your new brother. You aren't exactly human any more, but you haven't totally left it behind. Even Spock saw his mom every now and then.

Well, if you watch star trek prodigy, Wesley Crusher reappears for several episodes halfway through season 2. You'll get more info on Wesley's won't spoil

The explanation actually works as its kind of like a Traveller version of the Prime Directive. Wesley certainly knows about his half-brother and probably would love to see him but won't because he can't. Though it would be interesting if they do meet for some time travel reason in the future especially if Jack doesn't recognize him immediately until say Wesley greets him with something like "hey little bro at last I can see you."

However, the loophole is he has no prior interaction with Jack.

If there is a “Star Trek: Legacy” I believe we will see Wesley.

Additionally, I would be totally fine with a movie or limited series “Star Trek: Travelers.”

Y'all forgetting he was at Riker and Troi's wedding. Unless we just completely forget Nemesis happened. Which I'm ok with.

The fate of Wesley should be similar of Daniel Jackson, a character from Stargate SG-1. Daniel ascended to a higher plane of existence. But he returned back to his previous mortal existence after break the rules and aid his team to defeat Anubis.

Erm, he interacted with Earth in S2 of Picard when recruiting Kore… so that’s more evidence to call BS!

The real excuse is in the writer’s room!

I think there is still a visceral reaction to the character of Wesley Crusher that exists to this day amongst the TNG fanbase.

There are many who cannot get over the uber goody goody two shoes teenage prodigy wonder kid that it taints perceptions of what he would be like as a fully grown adult. An opportunity that was missed.

Wheaton got shafted in the TNG finale, the films and now the third season of "Picard". His cameo at the end of season two felt like a token and tacked on afterthought, like it was added at the last minute by the show's writers.

If it fits the script screenwriters will retcon it. As far as not interacting with people places or things then why did he come to Earth to get Kore Soong? Seems they would have sent a traveler with no connection to Earth, the Federation or the Soongs. It DID NOT fit with what he said because A: Wesley is from Earth and B: the Soong family is a very famous or infamous part of earth history and pivotal moments have hinged on Soong related issues, not the least of which going back to 21st century and removing a Soong from an earth before Wesley was even born, who had just previously interacted with Picard's family could be consequential.

Not having read the comics, I'm assuming that issue takes place AFTER Nemesis? Because he is distinctly there at Riker and Troi's wedding.

This explanation actually works well with the novelization of All Good Things. When I was a kid I remember reading the novel for All Good Things, and in it there is a brief scene with Wesley and the Traveler. In it Wesley actually sees what is about to happen to the crew of the Enterprise D, and he wants to help, but the Traveler more or less tells him that he can't, and that his old crew must go through the events of the episode by themselves. In other words Wesley can't interfere with what is about to happen. Though it would seem he can still visit from time to time, because of his wedding scene in Nemesis. Probably best explained by saying that it was just a wedding and not an end of the universe event. 😆

He was at Riker and Troi's wedding in the one movie

But he was at Riker and Troy's wedding.... so it still doesn't explain anything.

Yeah accept he is definitely in the wedding scene of ‘Nemesis’ so that doesn’t add up.
