STAR TREK: The Next Generation 1987 Cast Then and Now 2022 How They Changed

Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) is an American science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. It originally aired from September 28, 1987 to May 23, 1994 in syndication, spanning 178 episodes over seven seasons. The third series in the Star Trek franchise, it is the second sequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. Set in the 24th century, when Earth is part of the United Federation of Planets, it follows the adventures of a Starfleet starship, the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D), in its exploration of the Milky Way galaxy.
In the 1980s, Roddenberry—who was responsible for the original Star Trek, Star Trek: The Animated Series (1973–1974), and the first of a series of films—was tasked by Paramount Pictures with creating a new series in the franchise. He decided to set it a century after the events of his original series. The Next Generation featured a new crew: Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, Brent Spiner as Data, Michael Dorn as Worf, LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forge, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi, Denise Crosby as Tasha Yar, Wil Wheaton as Wesley Crusher, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, and a new Enterprise.

hold up. Robert O'relly went from almost Michael Dorn to almost Bob Newhart in 32 years? That's impressive!

I like how Patrick Stewart is 35 years older but still somehow looks exactly the same

Your Gowron guy in 89 was a pic of Michael Dorn! Also met Armin Shimerman at a Galaxycon in Richmond 2 years ago, he also played Quark on DS9, and while all the folks were cool to talk to, he was the best! Took pics with him and he went out of his way to be friendly. Again all the Star Trek folks were great, he was just a little better than even them.

STAR TREK the next generation, was such an iconic TV series! I must have seen every episode at least several dozen times. To see of how the members of this crew have aged is absolutely fascinating. Some of them even though they were playing Romulans or Klingons, their facial features are so distinct that you could pick them out of a crowd after so many years. Others I could sit right next to them in a waiting room and I wouldn't recognize them if you would tell me who they are. I guess we all age so very differently.

The Klingon High Counsel will be unhappy that Gowron was not represented with honor in this video.

I’m halfway through watching The Next Generation for the, erm, nth time, and if it wasn’t for the screen ratio you’d swear it was made only recently. A series made way before it’s time. It’s great to see that most of the actors are still with us. Thank you for this lovely tribute and more importantly thank you to all the actors who made it such an incredible show.

I love every single one of those actors. I love every single one of their characters they played. That series showed me more about loyalty, honor, love, and respect than all tv shows ive watched combined.

4:21 I think it’s safe to say he’s changed the most! 😂😂

Wow. I'm now older than virtually all of these actors as I see them on screen in 87, which is really warping my perception because I was a little kid whenTNG aired and these charachters still seem like grown ups and I still feel like a kid watching them!

How could you forget Majel Roddenberry's other memorable TNG role, Luxwanna Troi. The only woman that could terrify Picard.

Ahhh! The good old days. Man I miss those days of watching Star Trek with my best friend while in high school.

4:27 that's not "Gowron" on the left, it's another picture of Michael Dorn

Funny how time flies. I still watch some of these episodes on television for years now and you don't realize that TNG was on 30 years ago. Thanks for the memories. And for the record, Gates McFadden has aged very well. As lovely as ever.

I feel both nostalgic and sad seeing this. This came out in 1987, the same year I was born. I remember watching star trek the next generation with my parents when I was very little. I love that show.

Without doubt, the best ‘Now & Then’ video I’ve ever seen. Just good pics of each actor, right amount of time to view each pic and great music to accompany it all. Well done, very enjoyable.

I must say most of them have aged really well like a fine wine! We should all be so lucky!

Friggin' hilarious that instead of a pic of Bob O'Reilly, they put up one of Michael Dorn. And instead of being able to get a picture of Daimon Bractor, they pulled one of Quark instead and they couldn't get a picture of Jerry Hardin's Sam Clemens either.

I absolutely loved TNG, I was surprised that most of the cast was already in there late 30s and 40s when they started
