This is what I needed to hear! My son was absolutely traumatized by infant safe sleep, so I knew I didn't want to let him cry it out. I just didn't know the alternative. Thank you!

I remember my nurse told me to do this with my son 15 years ago and I listened to her now I feel so bad I just hope it had a minimal negative effect. He’s a well-adjusted kid now but you just have fears as a mum

I only leave the room for a few minutes and if my son has trouble going down after I leave I will come back and sometimes try to comfort him till he's calm and walk out. If he's still having trouble after a couple minutes I'll just go qnd sit in there
Sometimes that's all he really needs to go to sleep; just having me in the room
And he's never developed separation anxiety, at least not to any noticable degree

My soon to be ex-wife suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder. She was a "cry-it-out" baby exhibiting higher than normal propensity to cry. I feel this was one of the biggest contributing factors to her disorder. She failed to learn healthy bonds and trust which continued into adulthood. Over-sensitive babies need more comfort, not less. Now 2 lives are ruined.

What about infants? How do we get an infant to sleep in their own room without crying it out?
